This is an odd little problem, and I can't find a solution. I'm not sure if it's a bug in KMPlayer or in Vista x64, which I'm a new user of.
The icon for KMPlayer.exe refuses to appear in Explorer or in Start Menu shortcuts. All that's showing is the generic "non-associated" icon (the first one listed in %SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll).
The funny thing is, if I change the filename to anything else, or move it to any other folder (even a subfolder of C:\Program Files (x86)\The KMPlayer), the KMP icon immediately reappears. Change/move the file back, and it disappears again. This problem only happened after rebooting my computer following the installation of KMPlayer (not immediately after installing the software).
In all other respects the program works just fine, and none of the other files in The KMPlayer folder which have icons exhibit this strange behavior.
Anyone else run into this before? If no other solution is forthcoming, can I rename KMPlayer.exe to something slightly different, or will that prevent the program from functioning correctly?
edit: I created a subfolder called "Icon", copied KMPlayer.exe to it, and reconfigured the Start Menu shortcut to look there for the icon instead. Works well enough.
