Hi Z.
I cannot make KMP to play movie files that are associated with it. I just get windows "open with" dialog screen. I tried to reset the settings, choose the files anew and then apply to system, but it no good.
Maybe something is forcing this and kmp cannot get through.
Any ideas?
Thanx

:(
Must be something with windows registry or something.
The funny thing is that i can set file association with other players (mpc, zoomplayer) without a problem.
But Kmp“s "apply to system" doesnt work.
(stupid Windouz  )

Win Xp sp2 (professional)
It worked fine before...
The sad thing is i dont use windows system restore point and i didnt backup my registry either.
It happened before I tried the new beta.

Seems like it :(
But I am still wondering why other players can normaly set file association and kmp doesnt.
Can you tell the developer(s) to rework it a little bit?
If no... I have to play files via context menu till I make a fresh windows install :( .

I have had problems getting other players to unregister when I installed KMP. Maybe you have had a conflict that left the file type registration messed up? The usual method to fix this is to uninstall KMP and re-install it. I hesitate to suggest it, but if you are comfortable with saving restore points, you might want to try using CCleaner before re-installing. It is not completely impossible that CCleaner might remove some other registry entries that could break something else, hence the need for a restore point. CCleaner would pick up orphaned and non-functional registry entries for the file type so that when you re-install, it should create a fresh entry.
I am assuming that you have tried the method described in the forum?? Quick Tips and FAQ: How to make KMplayer the default player.

:)
This is quite an old thread (my last post: 24.03.2006).
I had a messed up registry. I tried CCleaner and other useful tools, I also tried installing/uninstalling and reseting KMP, but it didnt help. After a clean install of windows, everything went to normal.
