View Full Version : No Sound for WDM?

Hello, I am trying to setup KMPlayer to work with my TV Tuner for watching television. I have an ATI Radeon 9800 All-In-Wonder Pro.

I can open the WDM device in KMPlayer, and I see the video just fine but I can't figure out how to get the sound working. I've tried adjusting the WDM Audio controls, but nothing seems to help.

I am using the latest KMPlayer (I use the auto-updater), and the video card is setup properly. I have no problems watching (and hearing) TV using the ATI software that comes with the card.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate it.

Video Card/TV-Tuner: ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder Pro
Sound Card: NVidia NForce2 (onboard ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard)
OS: WinXP Pro

Are you sure to get a proper wdm audio support from WDM device driver?

It is natural that you can hear a sound through its own software as it may not use WDM audio driver to produce a sound but direct access to hardware. Generally, WDM driver is used for the global interface of external program.

Try other wdm supported program to confirm whether it's the problem of wdm driver or not.

Hello again,

Sorry for the very late reply. I hadn't had a chance to look into this further. I am now able to hear the audio, but I can't say for certain whether this is due to the updates to the driver since my last post or if I was just not setting it up properly before.

Anyway, as I said I can hear audio now, but in KMPlayer the quality isn't very good, like its compressed, kind of like on the news when they get live feeds from reporters in remote locations.

Media Player Classic exhibits this problem too, but Video Lan Player does not.

I tried Super Speed mode (Alt+F) and various other options that I thought might help, but I'm not having much luck. Any ideas?

The output method of VLC seems to be different(maybe direct hardware access?). On the other hand, KMP relys on WDM model as well as MPC. If then, the wdm driver can be a problem. Or the connection way of ATI radeon and Sound Card can be a problem too. It's just my guess.
