Is this a possible copyright violation? I was at wikipedia.com for 'comparison of video players' and found two entries for KMplayer.

However, "The KMPlayer" was the one that this site is associated to and the other one "KMplayer" was written by Koos Vriezen, Joonas Koivunen that was developed in Jan 2003. However, "the Kmplayer" was developed Dec. 2002.

Was curious if the authors knew about this?

As far as I know, these seem like two totally different players. The "KMPLayer" is the 'konqueror media player'.

Ok then, so, if the author of "The KMPlayer" is aware of this problem. They're not going to do anything about it?

That's like me saying I can name my new company "The Microsoft" and it's perfectly legal because it's not "Microsoft" and I used "the"? That doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

The original author does not develop KMP any more. I have been a member of this forum for 3 years and there were no complains about copyright violation. Most people accepted "The KMPlayer" as "Kang Multimedia Player" or falsely as "Korean Media Player". I remember only 2 or 3 people, who mistook "The KMPlayer" for the Linux "KMPlayer".

I would say, the best solution would be the "KMP" name - an abbreviation, the same meaning ("Kang Multimedia Player").
