I started using KMPlayer this morning and it works great so far.

I have a few questions though:

1. Is there a manual or guide as to what all the settings in the preferences menu mean? I am not familiar with the terminologies.

2. How do I get the player to auto center? KMPlayer opens up in the middle of the screen. As soon as I open a file, the player changes its video dimensions and isnt centered anymore.

3. By default, is KMPlayer configured for the best visual and audio quality? I have never used a media player this configurable before and I would like to configure or add additional plugins to enhance my experience. My system specs is listed in my signature.

4. Can KMPlayer play media files that are inside RAR files without actually extracting them outside?

5. How do I disable the clock that is displayed right below the video window?

6. Is there a "save" function in KMPlayer that allows me to store video files streamed to my computer?

Thanks

Hello,

1. No, I'd really like to write a full document but it's a time consuming job. As we do everything concering kmp with hobby, we have not enough time to make a document for kmp. But the terminologies used in KMP are not specific, so if you want to know it, just surf the internet. If you don't find a proper answer, come back and leave a question. As far as I know, I'll reply to the question with my best.

2. I have no idea what you are exactly talking about.

3. You should know that there is no such special settings. Before asking the best combination, you'd better study the basic materials for Video Playback. (I recommend doom9.org) It's almost impossible to get any suitable answer for a question like this.

4. As for rar-ed music album, it works.

5. There is no such option to disable the clock. I can't confirm but it could be done by editing skin definiton file.

6. Although it's possible to save some streamed media, but I don't know the available range supported by kmp.

For my 2nd question:

When KMPlayer starts up in the middle of the screen, which is good.

If I open up a video file, the media player doesnt position itself in the middle of the screen anymore. The top left corner of the player stays where it is while the media player's window expands towards the bottom right direction.

What I need it to do is for the player to expand its windows to whatever the video resolution is and then center then player in the middle of the screen again.

Hopefully that is easier to understand.

Uncheck the following item in preferences > general:

Restore to last position

I've the same problem. please note my images to explain this behaviour:

before open a file:

[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

after open the file. playing...

[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

after the file has been closed:

[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

In default preset ->general-> the restore last position is on.
but the problem is : if the main windows is too close to the lower edge
when a file is open and its new size is behind the screen resolution when the file is closed the position will not the original one. try with a 800x600 to test
it easily.

A very good option is in General -> Playback -> Place a video window...
