Opening and loading speed.

KMPlayer takes about 14 times as much time to start than ZoomPlayer, and about 20 times as long as MediaPlayerClassic.

That's the main reason, less and less people are using this player, it is just way too slow to start up and start playing some mediafile.:(

What system do you use?

KMPlayer takes not even 2 seconds (I guess half a second) to open and play a file. With Haali or VMR it is a little bit slower, but still below 3 seconds.

Opening speed should be improved, anyway.

I run a dual boot xpsp3 and w7. In both cases 1435 opens and plays (from double click on a 9gb mk file located on an external drive) in circa 6 seconds.
Six seconds divided by 20 - that zoom player is lightnin I tell ya.

My system is XP SP3, Core2 Duo 2.6Ghz CPU.

ZoomPlayer opens in the blink of a second, so does MPC, but I don't know why KMPlayer is so incredibly slow at opening from doubleclicking some mediafile in explorer.

When only initiated from the desktop it opens reasonably fast, a tiny bit slower than ZP or MPC, but when initiated from doubleclicking a mediafile in explorer, or doing an "Open with.... KMPlayer) from a rightclick in explorer, it takes a looong time before the mediafile actually starts playing.:(

My player opens all files quick,under a second.It doesn´t matter how i open the files(direct over player,playlist,from explorer with right klick,double klick).Only big mkv files takes a lttle bit longer(circa 3 sec.).
I´m on XP SP2,core 2duo 2,6Ghz,2gb ram

Pastel, that's sad. And strange.

Storing settings to INI is slower, but I don't think that this is your problem. We only can hope for a version that will be faster.

If I could give any advice I would tell you, but unfortunately I can't.
