View Full Version : New 16.4.2006 beta playback problem
First I want to thank you - the ("my") subtitle problem is now solved :)
This build supposed to kill the jerky playback of mp4, but instead I got jerky playback for all videos :(
The videos take more time to load, have jerky playback and the biggest problem is with video seeking: when I move the playback slider, the video freezes for a few seconds, then I get sound for another few seconds (the image is still) and then the video tries to catch up with the sound = is kind of fast (like fast forward).
I tried to increase the cache, but it didnt help.
So I reverted to the previous beta.
I have also problem with the last beca version.
I use KMPlayer usually for playing videos on TV and there is works ok. But when Im trying to play video on desctop, I have problem. In the window everything ist ok, but when I use fullscreen, I see only black screen. I was trying something and in the end the fullscreen worked and video in the window no.

I have a same problem, too. It'll be fixed in the next version.
It's a commonplace affair that to try to fix one problem bring about another problem. ;)
@mad
I found a interesting solution in korean forum with the latest version.
1. You can overwrite the library "libcodec.dll" from the previous version.
2. If you'd not like to change the library, select alternative library in preferences > internal video decoder. Or you can use an external decoder for the time being. It's simple to use an external decoder.

Works, thanks :)

So true...thats a problem of every software
The playback problem from beta 16.4.2006 still remains :(
And this time the changing of "libcodec.dll" doesnt help that much.
Mostly .mkv and .ogm are really jerky.
So I changed to ffdshow for now.
And I have a problem (not only a problem of lates beta) with embeded subtitles in some mkvs. Some lines (sentences) in the subtitles have shorter timings (last 1-2 second less = dissapear earlier than they should). But this is totaly random
I was able to make screenshots...both subtitle shots are from the same file, using same decoders - well you see the differences.
I've tested some mkv files, but I have no problem. Would you post ctrl-tab info when jerkying? Is it always jerking with mkv? If you have a small sample to verify, would you upload it here or leave a link?
For the embeded subtitles, I have never used it untile now. And nobody reported the problem. By the way, check if this problem occurs with recent updates or not. Other timing bugs with .sub or .ssa you mentioned may be fixed all.

See attachement. I discovered that only mkv with h264 (mp4) are jerking with the newest beta (other files are ok). First .txt is the filtergraph with the 9.4.2006libcodec.dll and the second .txt is with the 21.4.2006libcodec.dll
Its ok with ffdshow. You can take the "HiME" file from this post: [Only registered and activated users can see links] as a sample.
By the way, check if this problem occurs with recent updates or not.
It occured before and it occures now (newest beta). It is a small problem...some lines of sentences in subs are displayed only for a second (they should stay more seconds). But this is, as I said, totaly random...
I will try to make a sample of the file, in which this bug occures sometimes (the line I posted/attached in my previous post)
I made a short sample, but I can“t reproduce the bug in it. It looks like the problem occurs when KMP is loading the subtitles into its memory.
When I changed these settings ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), this weird subtitle problem gets even worse. I tried values: 300 and 2000 (default 1000)...the bug is more noticable.

The option is not for the case.
