Dear KMPlayer:

My name is Phearith Chau, from a company called Advance Theory, Inc. With your permission, we would like to distribute the KMPlayer as a bundle package with our free Interenet Radio for local radio stations. Is that okay, or is there some corporate legal thing that we would need to go through. We would like to distribute the player without the libraries.

Sincerely,
Phearith Chau

As long as it is distributed free of charge, you are allowed to do that. However, you should keep it in mind that the author (kyh96403) is not libable for any kind of problem with relation to the redistribution and there is no additional support for that.

Thank you for your reply. We are also looking to integrate KMPlayer into our Sony PSP application, which is Homebrew. Though our PSP product is freeware we would like to brand the media player and redistribute it with our PSPRadio application with a "Powered By" recognition for KMPlayer. This will allow users to transfer streaming playlist from the PSP to the Desktop and enjoy it there also. We don't have a lot of money but we do have some and I guess we're willing to pay a small fee if you could apply the co-branding for us or allow us to do it. If you are able to apply the branding for us for a fee, that would be best. But we would love to have you help us with integration as a lead developer on that project. The budget for lead developer on this project is about 3K per month. And we are already working on this so we could give you a development budget ASAP, if you're interested. Feel free to erase this post because I'm not sure how much we can talk about this here. I can be contacted on AIM: solarluvbaybieXL. Also, AIM:PSPAdvanceRith.

Regards,
Phearith

Hi, I would also like to distribute KMPlayer free of charge; however, my webhost compliance team has asked me the following question:

"Does your software/product promote or foster the distribution of
copyrighted material? How is your product intended to be used?"

Could you please help me answer this question?

Thanks a lot!
Greg

I'm not an KMPlayer official, just an moderator.

The KMPlayer does not stream any media. From that point of view there's no distribution.

The intention of KMPlayer is to playback any media it supports.

And I don't see why "copyrighted material" should be a problem. Of course it's possible to playback files that are under some copyright, or not. Also distribution of "copyrighted material" should not be any problem as long as one is permitted to do so.
