View Full Version : Playlist, importing as well as moving files

I have two questions regarding the playlist.
First, is it possible to import playlists back into the player, without using the default path? Seems to me the only option is to create a new list, load up the old one in default, and then transfer the listings to the new list. What I mean by default path is the folder in KMP which stores the playlists; I'd rather have them somewhere else.
Second, is it possible to copy all files in the playlist and transfer it to, say, a portable device? The listing is big and the files are located in different folders for sorting purposes; it'd save me a whole lot of time if this could work.
Thanks in advance to all who helps.

First: You can export them to ASX, M3U, PLS or KPL (KMPlayer extension). ALT+E to open the playlist editor. Right click (in playlist editor) > Export/Save list
save it where you want and if the extension is associated with KMP you can double click on it
Second: No, but you can do a feature request.

You can use this plugin ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (add it to the KMP plugins folder) and then use the "Send to:" command in the media library.

But it could be a great feature to add to KMP.

then use the "Send to:" command in the media library
It requires winamp media library!

Actually I already have them exported; what I want to do now is to add them back because I reinstalled KMP to get rid of some issues.

I tried installing this plugin directly but it wouldn't install, so I installed winamp and then it installed fine.
But when I copied the ml_gusb_us.dll to the KMP plugins directory KMP doesn't recognize it. (i.e. Under preferences->plugins it doesn't show up anywhere)
Am I out of luck or did I do something wrong?

what I want to do now is to add them back
Load the playlist and open the playlist editor.
Right click > Export/Save list Save all to new album (CTRL+N)
Give it a name
Keep "Export" checked
change the path to any you like

You can also extract the plugin from the installer with 7-zip (or create a fake winamp.exe file anywhere).

It's a media library plugin so it doesn't appear in KMP Preferences window. Media Library plugins are listed in right-click -> Options -> Winamp window -> Preferences.
When opening the media library (Alt+L) you will see the drive letters at the left.

I thought there might have been a simplier import function somewhere.
But thanks anyway.

I don't see "winamp window" in my right click menu, was this added after the latest stable release?
Also, Alt+L doesn't open up anything for me.

You have not checked "Winamp plugins" during installation.
You can reinstall KMP or extract the files with 7zip.

Thanks to both of you, helped out a whole lot.
And yes this would be a nice feature for future releases.

Although this method has one catch that I just found out; it doesn't work with non ASCII characters.
The media library implemented by KMP can't recognize these characters, turning them into question marks resulting in the inability to locate the files. This is true even running under Japanese mode with applocale.
The work around:Export list using KMP to playlist file (say m3u), then open up winamp in Japanese mode, import the list and use the gUSB plugin.
This reminded me of the reason I ditched winamp in the first place; doesn't work well with asian languages. Good thing KMP doesn't have this problem.
