Hiho, i would like to know which media player u find the best to play ur media files! Main criteria is the amount of supported media types :)
f.e. Bluray-untouched, HDDVD , DVD , iso Support and so on ...

so for me its Total MediaTheatre 3 because its an allrounder that plays really all file formats and also Bluray untouched / HDDVDs . Another huge thing is the SIMHD Plugin that makes normal DVD's really look like at least 720p movies ...
it also has .iso support but this shouldnt be advertisement here

so plz post what u think is the best player for you !

PS: if u are missing any player post it here plz!

You are posting this poll on KMP forum? Hehe, what do you guess will win? :)
Btw. you are comparing shareware- with freeware players?

hehe ok I see...;) I posted this on another forum and results where quite different... I think it's because KMPlayer is yet not very known to users , I didn't know of it 1 month before.

But I have to admit some occasional bugs fixed and Bluray /HDDVD untouched playing with menu and working .iso function and it would be my favorite player that could easily challenge it with commercial software.. so keep up the good work ;)

It is from the original author of KMP, so yeah, it is (but lacks translation).

Strange is that the file-size differs so much and was first seen in Spain.
The actual executable needs to be analyzed. I'm sure Potplayer.exe from the original dev does not share all of the behavior.

as a long time MPC-HC user and recent kmp tester, I think MPC is better overall technically. It plays more files glitch free and is less likely to hang. kmp has a better feature set, with lots of user friendly touches like multiple configs, skin (MPC looks very old and dated), shortcut keys for just about everything. bookmarks, playlists, recent files are better implemented in kmp. kmp is more usable overall. MPC is strictly a video only app (I like this, concentrate on doing one thing well rather than trying to do a lot of stuff). MPC is also open source and updated much more frequently, has more devs so problems are more likely to be fixed quickly. MPC also has better BDMV support.

I've gotten kmp to work pretty well by registering MPC's stand alone filters and using it inside kmp. However, I have a problem with EVR in kmp 1435 and later and I have no idea when or if it'll ever get fixed.

so for me, there's no single best player. just very good players that I switch between depending on what I'm trying to play. it's too bad kmp is in delphi and not open source, b/c if you could combine kmp's UI and MPC's engine that'd be a rocking player.

Afaik there is some Chinese fork of MPC-HC which has new nicer GUI and there was info that some developer working on porting it. Also now MPC-HC has its own WASAPI Audio renderer and Gothsync branch looks promising so we probably can expect built-in reclock-like functionality in the near future.

UPD oops, forgot to say, I voted for MPC. All this stuff like bookmarks, playlists, recent files etc. is not important for me and yes I also have troubles with EVR in KMP

I agree completely with hdboy.

KMPlayer is beautiful, i want to use it, but MPC-HC is one year ahead than KMPlayer.

I can't use KMPLayer to play HD movies. It's jerky, freeze, EVR is very bad, DXVA sometimes doesn't work, ...
I'm a developer, and i know the job is doing the new developer is not easy, but KMPlayer must catch other mediaplayer (specially MPC-HC), or is die.

The developement is stopped from december 2008 (release 1434), just some small fixes, and some new bugs, in this year.

I hope in a near future.

With all my respect for the developer.

This poll shows how much "knowledge" you have about good media players, you included all the crappiest ones, and you "forgot" the best one.

I would assume that would be mplayer? Spent many hours configuring that one... I originally switched to KMP because of the ease of configuring and saving different profiles. I should take another look at mplayer soon.

I agree with hdboy's earlier comment about mpchc being superior technically and updated more frequently. The features of kmplayer make it my default where mpchc is used for files that kmplayer has trouble with which lately is happening more and more .

The features of kmplayer that are most convenient to me are.

1. open similiar files together-(MPCHC does not have this)
2. control default autohide skin. Where I can just mouseover kmplayer and the player controls appear, mouse off and it hides them again. (MPCHC can hide the controls via keyword shortcut, but can't mouseover like kmplayer)
3. highlight the slider bar it shows what time you can skip to in the video file(MPCHC does not have this)
4. The ability to take continuous screen shots of a movie which I can create a gif animation from. (MPCHC you can only take one shot at a time)
5. a-b repeat(MPCHC does not have this)
6. minimize to tray
