English.ini for translation and general use

English.ini for translation and general use. The language file of The KMPlayer does not need to compile to use. After downloading, place it under ".../The KMPlayer/Language/" and reload the language file.


The following descriptions are only for translation.
There are a few changes of english.ini in 2.9.3.1250.

It is still possible to define the individual font size and name in language file. The individual definition will be recognized at first prior to the global definition for font face and size in [info] section of the header of language file. To use FontSize for individual items, refer to the font definition of English_full.ini.

The font size of dialog box is like Font.Size=11.
The rest is like FontSize=11.

Control box tooltips are under "Tooltip" section in English.ini. The rest of the Control Box is made of images into the skin, so you'll have to modify them with an image editor.

Z, isn't possible to publish the lines of the language.ini file changed for each KMP new version? It's a hard work to check all the file, and if we, translators, could have an easy access to the changes, we could improve the time to share the updated translations...

It's easy to compare two English.ini files with a tool like WinMerge ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). Just select the two files, right click and select "WinMerge" to compare them (all changes will be highlighted).

BTW I am making the user's manual in English.

My idea is to explain all user-selectable parameters (what are the options; and the pros and cons of each).

Since skins change, screenshots of the main GUI won't be much useful.

Most of the options are offered to use s through
(a) context menu and
(b) The Preferences box.

Out of this, I have converted the English.ini file into an excel file with three columns (the columns represent the depth of any given menu option in the menu tree). For example, In the Open>Recent files > clear history menu, Open is in the 1st column, Recent files is in the 2nd column and clear history in the 3rd column.

I will add one wide column to explain-
(a) The purpose of menu option
(b) What are the alternatives (if any)
(c) Which option is better in which condition (if applicable)

I will do the same with the preferences box later.

Each translator will have to parse his own ini file, and then add translation of the material I will be adding in the last column. Although this will be a bit of heavy work in the first version, later on this will be only incremental work.
(Every translator will have to compare the old and new ini files; and touch up the help file accordingly.)

BTW it will be good if someone finds a macro to convert the ini into a table.
For example, the text before '=' can be deleted in each line.

(We will only mention what is visible to the user in the menu)

This guy had a problem because of the option, try to force YV12.

The default output colorspace of Cyberlink H264 decoder is surely YUY2. When connected to KMP video transform filter, there is a basic step of CSC (colorspace conversion: YUY2 -> YV12) to accept the decoded data of video streams into KMP video transform filter.

Cyberlink h264 decoder also seems to support YV12 output but there is no clear way of controlling the priority of output colorspaces unlike CoreAVC. In this case, it's possible to try to force YV12 output of external video decoder. In other expression, it's to try to force YV12 input to KMP video transform filter.

The main problem is. The window and the GUI elements are sooo small.
Pretty difficult to get a short and logical translation for other languages then English, Chinese or Korean.

I needed to abreviate a lot of words, terms and substitute some expressions to fit them into the available space, but this is the cost of making a version.

Sub repeat -> Subtitles repeat (times that are repeated)
Prev/Next Sub -> Previous/Next subtitles (jumps from line to line)
Sub SR -> Subtitles section repeat (repeats the last line)
Time SR -> Time section repeat

If there are not subtitles:
Sub SR -> Repeats the last 10 seconds

You can make the font size smaller in that window for your translated strings to fit the buttons. E.g.:

Recheck the english language file. The italian language file lacks some part of it.

I removed it from a language file because there are no more such tabs in about dialog. I don't know well what is happening here but the tabs were removed after takeover.

I updated Italian file.

I realize that errors in last Italian file came by translation from another 1432 english.ini file, different from last one (contained in english_1432_pre5.zip)!

So please insert this new Italian file in last KMP beta version!;)

That is not a translatable part. So it's not related with a language file. And I have no such a problem.

I get this when I change the KMP Audio Transform filter (in Preferences -> Audio Processing) to "KMP Inplace Audio Transform Filter (Fast)".

It is a hard-coded text in KMP. So let kmpkmp know this.

Every language (I checked) has one minor failure. An "%" is missing. Preferences > General > Repeat/Playlist > Playlist (Info)

tracknumber% should be %tracknumber%

There is a problem without these characters. I recognized it as it was used for the german INI. Previous there were underlined letters inside of the menu that could be pressed to navigate to this menu entry instead of using arrow keys or mouse. Now with this INI all underlined letters are gone. It's now impossible to use the keys. I guess it's useful for remote tools. It could be useful for notebook users.

I used the attached images for something else. Don't mind the red ellipses. It's just for comparison. Left is old. Right is new.

Dear translators,

you may have recognized that this English.ini hasn't been updated in the last time and you also may have recognized that a feature got implemented what requires translation of a single sting.

Since Build 1434 the user can choose the steps of volume changes in percent points.

In section [ConfigVolumeForm]
below "TntCheckBox2" (line 5121)
is a new string "TntLabel50" (new line 5122)

There is NO Korean string. It was directly in English. The original string is "Volume Steps".
