KMPlayer has not been declared dead, officially. I know what you feel.
KMPlayer doesn't get bad from slow developing it just doesn't get better. Feel free to use another player.
KMPlayer is still usable and I don't see any player to replace it. At least not right now. If development dies totally or remains slow that will change someday.

I'm using kmplayer 2.9.4.1435 under Windows 7 (64 bits) and it's working well.

Quiet bold thing to say...It works fine on my 3 computers with W7 32/64bit. No problems at all, except video might stop, when during playback a UAC permission prompt appears, nothing major.

KMP is full compatible with Win7, even if development is very very very slow.

The thing that bothers me is that the one developer that works on kmplayer does not interact with the community at all. Perhaps if he were to drop in from time to time and give an update on the development of the player there would not be questions like this asked.

He could update internal codecs at least...

It does run on my Win7 64 and 32, but barely. Some issues still pop up (windows focusing issue, random crashes, etc.) and there are some leftover issues from the previous versions too (awkward config menu, etc.).
I'm seriously considering moving to another media player, but there are very few media players out there that provide the extensive customizability of KMPlayer... Sigh...
Any other player recommendations? Preferably those with a full mouse/keyboard mapping ability (check out foobar2000 ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) for audio players; now something like that, but for videos).

Kmp runs well on my Win7 32bit.
I don't think there's another player like Kmp...maybe you could try Vlc or Gomplayer, but they're quite different from Kmp.

Small fixes to make it 100% win7 compatible will be great.
There is no other player like kmp, period.

Sometimes you didn't realize that your answer is right under your nose.... MPC-HC has a even more comprehensive and full keyboard/mouse mapping (although the interface is rather crude). Plus, it is open source, and does not violate any GPL or LGPL... Better compatibility with codec packs too!
Switching to MPC-HC for now, but if KMPlayer has an update, I'm gonna try it...

If you do not like the GUI you could try SPlayer ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). It is based on MPC-HC, but has a better GUI (though tastes differ :p )

Tried it... It is badly (I repeat: BADLY) translated from Chinese. The preferences interface is filled with broken English, making it difficult to understand. Secondly, the preferences do not offer much customization after all. Lastly, I use the player mainly with external codec pack (yes, even when I'm using KMPlayer); hence, I'm not really concerned about the built-in codec (I picked KMPlayer for its other customization features such as the custom subtitle engine: it's one of the best out there).
What I'm looking for is the customizability of the video player itself. I'd like to customize tons of stuff, from keys to mouse, to video renderer, etc. So far, MPC-HC, KMPlayer, and ZoomPlayer are the ones that satisfy my customizing needs. I started off with ZoomPlayer, but then there was a period of slow development there too. Then I went to experiment with KMPlayer, which I ended up using for close to 4 years now. Then, since the Pandora takeover, which slows down the development to a crawl like this, eventually I yield: now, I'm on MPC-HC. Well, I could live with the plain GUI of MPC-HC for now...
See KMPlayer dev? You just lost one user from slow development or not making it open source. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one making a switch here....
Meanwhile, I'll just gonna drop by this forum in case there are some updates... It's not too late to win these handful of users here...

There was just a post from a mod in the news section that KMP is going to be restructured (and I know that that takes up much time). Therefore we still have hope.
I did only mention SPlayer as I heard, that it is based ob MPC-HC and had a better GUI, but I never used it.
