Hello there,...

I'm new among you.

I juste bought a LCD tv (HDready) and decided to play my dvd's from a computer. Those are connected together via a DVI to HDMI cable.
My graphic card is the Nvidia 6600GT (AGP) with its latest official driver.
KMPlayer seems to be THE perfect tool for me, I really like it but I still don't get how to achieve a razor sharp image to beggin with...

My LCD is a 37'' with a resolution up to 1360x768 (altough I don't get why my graphic cards claims it can achieve a 1920x1080...I assume it's the "HDReady-thing". Anyway, I set my graphic card to 1360x768 to match the TV requirement and the XP Desktop is clear and as sharp as expected.
When I first start a dvd in KMPlayer, the dvd is window-sized at its default resolution and the picture is very sharp.
Now, the point is to get a fullscreen experience isn't it?
But whatever I do in the 'preferences menu' of KMPlayer, resizing makes the result too soft to be acceptable.
I used to use NDVD and had some good results whit it so I suppose that KMPlayer should be able to achieve at least something close to it (if not better).
I also tried to use the sharpness filters I found but what I get is a dirty picture, nothing that comes even close to the original quality.
With those filters I only sharpen an already soft image. Noway to get something acceptable.

Any advice on how I can set my system up (KMplayer and/or Graphic card parameters) to finally get something decent?

Thank you for your help and...sorry for my bad english (my korean is worse believe me ;) ) .

If you configure the same filtergraph as NDVD, you should get the same result. Try to use same decoder(maybe nvidia mpeg2 video decoder) and disable the internal video filter.

Thank you for your answer!

I will try that again. I did it once but for some reason, I couln't get the same result. I assume I did it the wrong way.

One more basic question though...
Whatever the player, when the DVD starts a movie in a small window that I presume being it's native resolution, it looks splendid.
So here it is: when I go fullscreen, does the picture inevitably go more or less softer?
Is it possible to get the exact same sharpness or is it technicaly impossible?
This way I would know if I must lower my expectations or not.
Without knowing that for sure I know myself I wouldn't stop trying, even if I get something acceptable.

Thank you for the answer I already had ;-)

How did you do it? If you post your playback infomation(ctrl-tab), I'll look into it.

Not always, some players do not start by original resolution.

Yes. It's because the pixel is stretched(resized, more precisely speaking).

It can be enhanced by using better resizer and deinterlacer whether it is a software or hardware process. Generally, software process is better than hardware. In your case, you seemed to have used purevideo. If you wish to enable purevideo in kmp, kmp should be running in superspeed or highspeed mode. And you should check the renderer status and the configuration of nvidia mepg2 decoder.

This way I would know if I must lower my expectations or not.

There could be a compatibility problem in kmp. It is hard to confirm as I have no external display.
If you find something, let us know that. ;)
