1. Switch to KMP Internal RealMedia Splitter in Splitter of Preferences.
2. There should be realmedia codecs in your system or under the kmp folder.
3. Uncheck the item of Real Audio in Internal Audio Decoders of Preferences.

If you give me a link to get the problemetic rmvb, I'll test it.

There are three ways to use realmedia decoders in kmp.

1. To install realplayer.
2. To install real alternative.
3. To copy real decoders to the kmp folder which is extracted from realplayer. As the main purpose of kmp is not registering any filters to the user's system for keeping it from being messed up, it is my personal favorite. But there are clear differences between realplayer/alternative and kmp. That is, if your main usage of playing contents is focused upon an internet based media files, it's recommended to install adquate players correspondent to the media types.

but the problem is i experience problems when i try to download and install realplayer it never gets through the setup stage :mad: i guess i would have to stick to only the avi files ...but still thank you :)

if you try kmp on rmvb files you'd better install realplayer. and it will work!

I took the above advise and copy the plugins.

I am able to play video of RMVB files, but there is no audio.

Wonder if I had missed something.

Thanx mad for your suggestion. Just after I installed Real Alternative, kmplayer is set to play the .rmvb files.

hi there..everything was working perfectly fine with my km player while watching rmvb files but that change after i upgraded to firefox3 and installed the latest realplayer11 ( gosh i am kicking myself now) , now my kmplayer only has picture but no sound for rmvb files but avi files are okay.
So i downgrade my firefox3 to firefox2 now hoping everything will go back to normal but it has not.

I do not wish to installed real alternatives because then i have to uninstalled my real player which i used quite often , so i hope there is other ways for me to sort out the problem.

Do u think if i installed the latest kmplayer , that would be my solution as i am using the older version kmplayer?

I am here hoping to watch rmvb/rm files with sound on both my kmplayer and realplayer which i did before and appreciate any help.

There is an incompatibility between Realplayer 11 and The KMPlayer.

If you want to play RealMedia files with KMP you need to switch back to 10.5 or install RealAlternative.

Firefox is not the problem.

You could upgrade to 2.9.4.1433, but this wouldn't change the situation.

If you need both players install RealPlayer 10.5 and you can play RealMedia files.

If you just need to watch the files in KMP you can install RealAlternative.
