What is the limit to the no. of bookmarks? I see they are stored in bookmarks.ini but after a certain point old entries get overwritten.

I would like to suggest some changes to the way bookmarks are handled -

1. Is it possible to keep bookmarks for a media file in a separate file that is associated with the media. This is how zoomplayer does it - movie.avi and movie.chp. The advantage is that I can then copy movie.avi (to dvd, different location) and still have my bookmarks.

Of course the way KMP does it has the big advantage that I have a global bookmarks menu but as I said it seems to be limited in no. of entries. I would like the best of both worlds, i.e have a global bookmarks.ini as well as individual chapter files.

2. Bookmarks use the whole path and not just the filename. This causes problems if the path changes. An option to ignore the path would be very helpful.

3. Finally, and this is a 'nice to have' but not compulsary thing, it would be great ik KMP could take screenshots at the bookmark location and then show them somehow. I think best place for this would be the Ctrl-J bookmark selection dialog. e.g. CrystalPlayer does this and its very helpful in knowing what the bookmark is (see attachment).

Thanks for a great piece of software and I hope you take these ideas into account for the next revision.

The allowed files of bookmark are 20 and the numbers of bookmarks per file are without limitation.

As for the rest suggestion of yours, the author will consider(there is an affirmative answer) it but it'll take times and it could not be applied to the same as your opinion. So please do not expect too much. ;)

Zoom Player has a great bookmark feature: store all bookmark files in one folder.

This centralizes all bookmarks in one place and eliminates the path problem (the video can move around and the bookmark file still works)

Also, Zoom Player has an excellent bookmark file format; why not use it? Then, people who have thousands of Zoom Player bookmarks can just use them as-is with KMPlayer!

For example:

// Usage : AddChapter(FrameNumber,Chapter Title)
// Usage : AddChapterBySecond(PositionInSeconds,Chapter Title)
// Usage : AddChapterByTime(Hours,Minutes,Seconds,Chapter Title)

# Chapter 000: 00:19:19
AddChapter(00028987,No Title)
# Chapter 001: 00:19:44
AddChapter(00029601,No Title)

In fact, the only reason I am using Zoom Player instead of KMPlayer is because of its better bookmark format.

In addition, it would be nice to rank and categorize bookmarks.

For example, I often want to see all my favorite:

* Action scenes
* Tender moments
* Funny moments

Hi,
first of all I want to thank developers for the BEST player ;)

I would like the bookmark system changed a little.

Option to turn on/off bookmarks list in the menu - I have a lot of bookmarks in lots of files and the menu is then quite messy and useless, because most of files is on DVDs
Change file identification for bookmarks - Bookmarks are now identified by filename and path - it's not very good choice, because if I move or rename file, than all my bookmarks are useless (Unless I manually edit the .ini file - not usable for everyone ;) ). At least change it to filename only, please.

Thanx a lot :)

Keep up the good work ;)

Hi!
I'd like to make some additional requests:

1. Remove the 20 files limit, of course. It's very annoying and I don't see any purpose in it.
2. Ability to bookmark a file together with the whole playlist. This is important for videos that are splittet into several files.
3. After loading a bookmark make it optional to set a new bookmark automatically when stopping or loading another file

Greetings

+1

When burning a DVD with some movies and KMPlayer on it, it is impossible to know in advance the letter of the DVD drive in the computer that will play the DVD. This means that complete paths in the bookmarks file will most likely fail and KMP won't find any bookmarks.

Somebody here suggested the Zoomplayer format. As far as I've seen, ZoomPlayer only uses the HH:MM:SS format. This means that if your bookmark is at 0:10:11.900, you'll get to see 0.9 seconds before the bookmark. It may not seem like a big deal, but for fast-action movies, it is important to be able to bookmark a precise location in time, or a frame (as KMP does). On the other hand, the frame rate may be different for a future rip of a movie (with the same filename, so the bookmarks will match), but the time-based bookmark will be the same.

For these reasons, I would suggest that KMP store only the timestamps in HH:MM:SS.mmm format.

Another suggestion: please use UTF-8 instead of UTF-16 as the encoding for bookmarks files. Most users on the planet will use English bookmarks, and UTF-8 handles Korean perfectly. But the advantage of UTF-8 is that it's backward-compatible with ASCII-only editors.

Another, very good, reason for this is explained in my reply ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).

BTW, this thread can be closed, since the "my reply" thread quoted above almost completely includes it.

Jesus I almost plan to make lots of bookmark since the discovery of this KMPlayer feature for my video collection. Now I know the limit is only 20 files.

How I soooo want to have features like CrystalPlayer and Zoomplayer!!! Please developers, make this happen!!!
