HI KMPlayer developers,

I want to suggest a new function which should be implemented in KMPlayer: TTS (Text-To-Speech) SAPI5 support for subtitle reading. With that function the user can use one of the installed speech synthesizers (those which appear in Control Panel -> Speech). That will be specially useful for users who have low vision but want to watch a movie with subtitles - with the function mensioned above, the user will watch the movie and the synthesizer will read the subtitles to him. If that function is implemented, KMPlayer will become one of the best players around (my oppinion). Not to mension that I also have low vision and know what it is like to watch a movie with subtitles and can't read them.

Thank you for taking some time to read this post!

Hello,

What do you mean by "low vision"?

Thanks,
z

I mean 'I can't see very good with my eyes. However I can see enough to be able to watch a movie on my PC. Unfortunately, I can't see good enough to be able to read the movie subtitles. Hope now you understand what I mean and sorry if my english is bad - I am from Bulgaria. There are some players which support TTS - like MV2Player, AllPlayer etc, but AllPlayer doesn't support SAPI5 standard and MV2Player (which supports SAPI5) is no longer developed. So I hope that such function can be implemented in KMPlayer.

Thanks!

Recently, there is an update of TTS support for reading subtitles. Did you try it? I wish to know if there is anything to be improved. It is implemented for those who have a low vision, especially for you.

I was able to test the latest beta and specially the TTS support. I must say it's very good! But ... there is something that bothers me. It might be something related to the synthesizer which I'm using (in bulgarian language), but ... the synthesizer says "Start of new line" (in bulgarian language) every time there is a new line of subtitles at the same time. I mean, if there is a subtitle instance containing more than 1 line, at the beginning of every new line, the synthesizer will say "Start of new line".
Note that the same thing happens when I use the Windows Language Bar to start reading a document with the synthesizer (it says "Start of new line" at the every new line of the document). However, that thing doesn't happen with MV2Player, which (as I said before) also has TTS support.
Other than that, thank you very much for implementing the TTS support!

Best wishes!

HI KMPlayer developers,

The problem with the syinthesizer saying "Start of new line" (which I reported above) is fixed in the latest beta version. Thank you very much! Now I can watch movie with subtitles without problems!

Best wishes!
