How to display (Portuguese) subtitle correctly? (Charset)

It's Portuguese, but I guess 90 % of the different characters also apply to Spanish.

Had to use RAR, as the .SRT file wouldn't go through ("invalid").

Check the following screenshot. I've switched the charset to East/Central Eur. in preferences > subtitles processing > font style. It seems to be displayed correctly. Do you use Portuguese language file? If then, try to switch to english.ini


If you have a problem of displaying subtitles correctly, there are two possibilities.

The codepage and charset of the language file in use is forced only to display a specified character encoding. Check the definition below is correctly defined in the language file you are using as follows. ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

If the characters of subtitle aren't still displayed correctly even though there is no problem in the language file, try to change the charset to suitable one in preferences > subtitles processing > font style.

Yup, it works.
(Well, Spain and Portugal arent actualy in eastern Europe, but ... :p )

By the way, it should work with default charset if you are using a localized windows for Portuguese.

Portuguese subtitles do work !
What was happening:
a) When you change CharSet, file must be restarted to take effect
b) This is an IBM laptop, US-English keyboard layout (forget about using a Portuguese layout). It handles Portuguese perfectly though.

Now, in such case, what worked wasn't the EastEurope CharSet, which showed right only some of the characters.
Here, "ANSI" and "Default" work alright.

In the attached subtitle file I listed all Portuguese and a couple of Spanish characters in the very first line, have a look.

Well, for me I may now solemnly kiss goodbye to GOM and BS.

The default charset follows the system charset, so if you didn't use portuguese windows, it is a natural thing.

Ok ,and i have problem with bulgarian subtitles "cyrillic"? Some one must to worck ;) as soon as posible 10x , a i angliiskiq mi e otvratitelen ana kraino vreme e nqkoi da sedne da napravi i na cirilica da, 4ete toq plear iny4e nqmam mnoo zabelejki ,drugata e 4e ne 4ete rm. format ?

Nqma problem s bulgarskite subtitri na kirilica. V momenta gledam film taka. Ot nastroykote na 6rifta izbira6 nqkoy 6rift, koyto poddarja kirilica, moqt naprimer e Arial CYR, i ot stila izbira6 Cyrillic (Russian).

If you keybord is set to PT just change as the charset to easteurope in preferences > subtitles processing > font style to system default.
