Hi there,
awesome player, I can't believe it!!!
there's one feature I'd really love to see included, it's the ability to change the "full screen background color" for 16/9 content.
It's already implemented in Zoom Player :
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
and it's very useful for DIY videoprojectors because low quality LCD panels have brightness problems in the corners called "mura effect".
depending on the R/G/B level of the black color, it can fade away or be very bright..
you can find several photos of what I'm talking about on this french link :
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
Hope you can implement it quickly, and thanks again for this totally awesome media player!!!
It looks like overlay color key.
There is a same function in kmp but it dose not work properly
I'll check it.

ok awesome thanks!
and could you provide a way to enable the "TrimensionDNM" effect if WinDVD7 is installed ? that would be the most ultimate media player
BTW I've just tried the latest beta, it really doesn't work well for me....it has luma offset problems and the colors look washed out..
the best release so far is Kmplayer.2.9.2.1100.Build.82.exe
the newest beta has luma offset problems and the colors look washed out
How did you set up kmp? Did you try to reset kmp?
There are no changes which can cause luma offset problems.
Kmplayer.2.9.2.1100.Build.82.exe
What's this? Where did you download it? It seems not to be an official release here.

Yeah I deleted the dir and cleaned up the registry..
I got this installer .exe from edonkey
I also like this version because it enables the ffdshow directshow filter.
the newest beta doesn't, even though u can still resize in lanzcos and enable the luminance fixes but inside the player options instead of just clicking on the FFDSHOW icon in the systray.
BTW could you provide a way to enable the "TrimensionDNM" effect if WinDVD7 is installed ? that would be the most ultimate media player
You can use ffdshow with all versions of kmp. That is, it is possible to use any kind of directshow filter with kmp as it is based on directshow fundamentally.
By the way, is it possible to enable "TrimensionDNM" effect with zoomplayer?
leeperry
11-07-2006, 10:10 AM
I dunno, I don't use Zoom Player but if you could offer a way to toggle it in KMP, that'd be really awesome!
so how can I enable ffdshow with the newest beta ?
even though I might just wait until your fix the "overlay color key" thingie, and maybe enable the TrimensionDNM because I really prefer the vivid colors of the Kmplayer.2.9.2.1100.Build.82
one weird thing in this version is that I get double transport bars.......one at the bottom of the image, and one on the skin of the player but well, no biggy ;)
Generally, KMP has a control how to use filters even in case of external directshow filters. If you wish to follow system control, just switch the option in Preferences > Decoder Usage. There is a detailed explanation. Also there is a better way to control filtergraph without giving its control to system which can cause a bit annoying problem due to the codecs in system.
You can enable raw filter of ffdshow via Custom Filter Manager or select ffdshow as an external filter in preferences. Before throwing further questions, take a look around at preferences. ;)
I dunno, I don't use Zoom Player but if you could offer a way to toggle it in KMP, that'd be really awesome!
Well, if you find a way to do, let me know that.
because I really prefer the vivid colors of the Kmplayer.2.9.2.1100.Build.82
I don't really understand what it is meaning.
I get double transport bars.......one at the bottom of the image,
You seems to switch to other skin mode. (KMP has four skin mode.)

well I'm not a programmer but maybe you can find a way to use the TrimensionDNM dll from WinDVD7 ? Through directShow or sumthing.
ok thanks for the skin tip, there's so many options in this program :D
well the colors in my installer version look stunning!!!
on the videoprojector it really looks amazing, a lot better than Cyberlink EagleVision2 or whatever else.
RED looks red, BLUE looks blue and Green looks really green and the colors look true to life....a delight to look at on a huge projection screen...no other media player comes close!
the newest beta fails to offer the same vivid colors and gives luma offset problems with MPEG2(windvd7 filter) on my setup...
leeperry
11-07-2006, 11:01 AM
and each time I opened a mp3 in the installer version it would show up a lamah fadein picture with some korean writings....I copied the /plugins/ dir from the newest beta and now it's gone :D
Your description about vivid color does not provide a reasonable information why it looks like. Contact to the distributor of the version. I just can't guess what makes the difference. And a thing about TrimensionDNM, it's not related with programming or else. If you find a suitable way to connect filters or enable TrimensionDNM, it's enough to use in directshow based player.
Thanks,
z

sorry I got no "Scientific" clues to back up my words.....
I've uploaded the version I was referring to on
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
there is 3 spywares that will ruin your IE(don't ask me how I know  )
so you have to disable them in the installer :
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
on this version the colors look stunning, maybe you can find out why ?
anyway if u can fix the background color, that'll be really cool!
thanks again for all,
The package violates our intention and it makes me enrage so much. It is not allowed to redistribute in such a way. I'll stop saying a thing about this and seriously consider stopping further supports.

lol I'm not the one who made this package and I don't even read korean so I couldn't tell you who did...I downloaded it on edonkey
All I know is that the colors look amazing with this package, and well if you can still fix the overlay color in the next version, I'll try to make the new version look as good as this one, even though it doesn't seem easy......or even possible ?!
leeperry
11-08-2006, 01:01 AM
it says "SLT" on the installer.
and I've searched on google "SLT+kmplayer"
I find this link :
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
and if you click on the SLT download, you get a 20 mb package.....which I'm downloading atm :D
anyway, can you fix the overlay color thingie please ?
Thanks!
leeperry
11-08-2006, 02:34 AM
ok I found the source of these packages :
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
this version also has the vivid colors enabled, but because it's more recent it also has the luma offset alignment problem on DVD's using the WinDVD7 legit decoder like the newest beta on your website...
I have to set it to Y-3 otherwise it's not aligned properly for DVD's....
ok forget it, I will stick with the first package, it works great except for the overlay color that doesn't work, but whatever :D
leeperry
11-08-2006, 04:58 AM
I guess you won't answer me anymore but that'd be great if you could fix the luma offset alignment problem on DVD's with the new versions.....and also the overlay color :D
both problems exist in the latest "official" beta on your website :(
leeperry
11-08-2006, 10:52 PM
anyone alive ?
the luma offset alignment problem on DVD's using Windvd7 decoder also exists in the latest "official" beta on your website ..
Be patient.
And maybe you can post some screenshots for comparison.
leeperry
11-20-2006, 10:39 PM
any chance of seeing the overlay color bug fixed ?
because even with DVD's, when I choose to resize to 1.85 or 2.35 I get two horizontal bars with different black shades....
thanks
How can I reproduce the problem?
leeperry
11-21-2006, 02:26 AM
I will post some screenshots about the overlay color problem and the luma offset problem.
thanks ;)
leeperry
11-21-2006, 03:04 AM
so first problem :
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
if you increase the brightness, it doesn't increase the black bars...so it's very annoying...
and even if you don't increase the brightness, you can still see a difference between the DVD black bars(2:35 content encoded in 1:85) and the black bars that KMP adds on most DVD's...I don't know how PowerDVD/WinDVD handle that but you can't see any shade difference with them.
and I'd love to see the possibility to change the "color key" to be fixed, so I can set it to whatever color I want for black bars...there's a bug, it doesn't work.
second problem, the luma offset :
latest beta from your website (downloaded today and I cleaned the registry before running it) without any offset changes :
look at the red DTS logo, it's not aligned properly :
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
if you change the "luma offset Y" to "-3" then it's good :
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
this problem only happens with DVD(I use WinDVD7 for MPEG2 VIDEO and AC3Filter for DTS, with VMR9 Renderless) and doesn't happen with older versions of KMP.
and if you could give the option to disable the anti-aliasing of the OSD, that'd be terrific!
leeperry
11-21-2006, 11:18 AM
so what do you say z ? :)
Addmitting there is a bug of controlling overlay mixer, I can't still confirm the bug has something to do with intervideo decoder. Wait till next beta release.
leeperry
11-21-2006, 05:47 PM
ok great, can't wait!
can you also fix the ability to change the overlay "color key" of the "black bars" and give the ability to disable the anti-aliasing of the OSD font ?
That'd be totally awesome, thanks for all your hard work!!!
The function is already added in the latest beta and KMP does nothing with relation to anti-aliasing of the OSD font. So make it clear what you are talking about.
leeperry
11-21-2006, 06:08 PM
what function ?
I've tried to change the overlay "color key" in the latest beta, it doesn't change the "black bars" color for 16/9 content.
Actually I was asking if you could fix 3 things :
1)fix the ability to change the overlay "color key" of the "black bars"
2)give the ability to disable the anti-aliasing of the OSD font(for example when you increase/lower the volume, it says "volume -20%" in yellow, but I want the anti-aliasing of this font disabled)
3)fix the intervideo luma offset bug
1. The function only works with Overlay Mixer. (Zoom Player does the same thing in Overlay Mixer, not in VMR windowless mode) If it is possible to use the function in VMR, let me know what to do. (I'll check it)
2. What's wrong? What type of message do you use?
3. Already answered.
leeperry
11-21-2006, 06:26 PM
1.too bad "overlay mixer" doesn't work for me, I get a black screen and no image(XP SP2, 6800GT, latest nvidia drivers)
2.well...........there's an OSD font in yellow when you change settings, right ? It's anti-aliased, right ? I'd like to get the possibility to disable the anti-aliasing....
3.ok thanks ;)
Anyway, let's continue further discussion when the next beta version is out.
As for the second request, I wonder if you know what you are talking about. What's the purpose of the request?
leeperry
11-21-2006, 06:48 PM
lol, it's not exactly rocket science.....
there's an OSD text in yellow that lets you know if you toggle filters/change volume, etc...
it using anti-aliasing so it looks nicer to the eye.
Well, it looks blurry, and it's even worse on a video-projector.
so I'd like to be able to make it not anti-aliased so it doesn't look blurry anymore.......I don't see what's so complicated here ;)
Ok, I got it. By the way, what kind of video renderer do you use?
If you use VMR9 renderless, try to disable the option "Draw smoothly" in Preferences > Subtitles Processing.
If you are not satisfied with the output quality, try to change "Font Rendering Method" to Windows Standard Output(GDI) and disable Antialiasing in Subtitles Processing > Folder Setup > 2x Antialiasing.
As we are in a diferent output environment, it's hard to guess the result. Hope it to be solved.
leeperry
11-21-2006, 07:50 PM
ok great! thanks!
I'd rather get the OSD menu on the top right instead of top left, is it possible ?
BTW, WinDVD8 has just been released so you might wanna use it to fix the luma alignment problem in KMP, and I will try to get the overlay working in the new beta :)
leeperry
11-21-2006, 09:46 PM
ok great, I've finally managed to get OVERLAY working with the newest beta, and I can change the overlay color....you rock!!!!
but the luma offset problem is still there :(
BTW, there's a very good mp3 decoding plugin for winamp, and I use it with KMPlayer because it's much better quality than the lamahsoft :
[Only registered and activated users can see links]!mpg123.html
I only have two more questions, if you don't mind :
1)is there a way to output 32 bit/IEEE to the sound card drivers in KMP ? is checking only "32 bit FLOAT PCM" enough ?
2)can I get ffdshow to open up whenever I play a video/DVD in KMP like with the old versions of KMP ?
thanks again,
You don't need to enable the option or else. As for the second question, yes. For detailed information, search the forum.
leeperry
11-21-2006, 10:42 PM
so how can I be sure that my 24/96kbit .WAV and .APE get output to my X-Fi drivers in the highest possible quality ?
There is a playback info box. Or open visual widnow and press tab key.

leeperry
11-22-2006, 03:52 AM
ok thanks I did my homework and saw this thread, but I don't want to resample...I just want all the audio to be sent in 32bit float to the X-Fi drivers ;)
Logically, you can bypass it but I can't confirm how it could be. (I'm using a sound device on mother board.)
leeperry
11-23-2006, 04:35 AM
ok nevermind, thanks for all. your player has all the features the other players should have :D
I'll be using the new beta as soon as the luma offset problem will be fixed, and I was also having problem changing the Kelvin Temperature with Powerstrip using VRM9, so for the time being I'm using an old version which works just fine!
leeperry
11-27-2006, 06:25 PM
forgive me for asking, but does the [2006/11/27] beta fix the WinDVD luma offset problem ? :D
Thanks ;)
Are there anyone who know the way to reproduce it?
leeperry
11-28-2006, 06:01 PM
well I told you already :D
install WinDVD7 or 8, play some DVD's, close KMP, play some DVD's and BAM! luma offset problem by Y+3
leeperry
12-02-2006, 06:42 PM
so did you manage to recreate the problem ?
kthx :D
As I said, I can't reproduce it.
leeperry
12-03-2006, 09:53 AM
well it doesn't happen the first time you try it.
so install windvd7 or 8, clean the registry, play a few DVD's by opening/closing KMP several time and after a few times it will show up.....oh well nevermind I'll stick to 2.9.2.1100 which doesn't have the luma offset problem..
leeperry
12-06-2006, 03:16 AM
ok I got another problem but you will tell you can't reproduce it I guess ;)
I've got a 1280x720 WMV file, with WMA9 5.1 384kbit/s audio
in wmp/mplayerc the downsample to stereo is perfect, I can hear people's voices
in KMP, it's totally off. I don't hear the center channel, so I only hear external noises, not the poeples voices.....
both players are using the WMA9 DMO, so there's no settings whatsoever to play around with....
In the latest beta?
I've checked and can confirm that it works without any problem.
leeperry
12-06-2006, 07:15 PM
ok good to know it's fixed in the latest beta.
sorry I still use 2.9.2.1100, the latest beta has a offset alignment problem with WinDVD MPEG2 decoder, I will never update I think....
and I find it hard to believe that you can't reproduce the problem....
leeperry
12-07-2006, 09:58 PM
so did u try play several DVD's and close/open KMP several times ?
you need a DVD with a logo in a corner to really see it......like the DTS demo disc I made pictures of :
look at the red DTS logo, it's not aligned properly :
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
if you change the "luma offset Y" to "-3" then it's good :
[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])
this problem only happens with DVD(I use WinDVD8 for MPEG2 VIDEO and AC3Filter for DTS, with VMR9 Renderless) and doesn't happen with older versions of KMP.
leeperry
12-08-2006, 05:11 AM
anyone alive ? :D
Compare the Ctrl-tab info between the two versions or post it here. It's hard to understand your description though the screenshot shows the weird offset of video.
leeperry
12-08-2006, 05:56 PM
ok I will paste these infos here if that can help you.
well it's simple!
install windvd8, clean the registry, unzip the newest beta, play a few DVD's, open/close KMP a few times..........and bam, luma offset is off....
leeperry
12-31-2006, 02:25 PM
hi Z, sorry didn't bother copy/pasting because had other things to do......but I got a question for you, and there's a new WinDVD8 version so I'll do it! :)
my DVD drives are RPC-1 so they can play DVD's from any region, but yesterday I tried to play DVD's from another region than mine and I didn't get any output in KMP...just a black screen...
How can I play DVD's from another region with KMP ?
Thanks ;)
Is it possible to play the DVD with other directshow players such as zoom player or mpc? (I don't have RPC-1 DVD drives)
leeperry
01-01-2007, 02:40 AM
good point! I'll try with VLC.
But I'd love to play my korean and US dvd's :(
and BTW I get A/V sync issues with DVD's since I've installed the latest version of WinDVD Platinum v8.0 Build 06.104 Release 2
You might wanna check it out ;)
And I'll copy/paste the infos you wanted about the luma offset issue..
leeperry
01-08-2007, 06:17 PM
ok I've installed "DVD Region+CSS Free" to get rid of region protection DVD's, and KMP is not compatible with it......
it stutters(I've tried to disable the KMP file cache feature) and gives garbage audio....
I run a fast computer on XP SP2
leeperry
01-09-2007, 02:06 AM
hey Z you're still alive ?!
or you don't care ?
Actually, I don't know well your problem. That's all. I'm not almighty God. I'm sorry.
leeperry
01-09-2007, 04:33 AM
well on your forum you say "no feedback = no bug fixes"
mplayerc is compatible with DVD Region Free, and KMPlayer isn't
there's a lot of apps that kill the region protection of DVD's like "DVDFab" etc......
Also, the latest version of WinDVD8 gives A/V synchronisation problems.......and the luma offset is still there..
WinDVD is the sharpest DVD decoder around, so maybe you could try to fix KMP to use it properly ? ;)
leeperry
01-10-2007, 07:19 AM
so feedback = no bug fixes ? :)
It is not that Z doesnt want to help you. He cannot reproduce the bug, thats all.
leeperry
01-11-2007, 01:53 AM
ok nevermind, AnyDVD works perfectly with KMP and it kills the region protection..
I will never update my KMP 2.9.2.1100 because the newer versions have the luma offset problem with Windvd7/8
but the A/V snychronisation problem with the newest version of WinDVD8 DOES exist, and I'm sure Z didn't try to reproduce this problem........lot of ppl use WinDVD8 because it is the sharpest DVD decoder.....so more ppl will tell you about the problem and you will need to look into it.......
leeperry
01-29-2007, 09:49 PM
and could you provide a way to enable the "TrimensionDNM" effect if WinDVD7 is installed ? that would be the most ultimate media player
You can enable it in ZoomPlayer :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > InterVideo > Common > VideoDec > add a DWORD key called "UseDNM" and set it to 1
if their source code is available, maybe you could enable it too ?
leeperry
02-01-2007, 06:14 AM
yay
Z you alive man ?
