What does superspeed do?

Perhaps my searching skills are a bit poor, so if the information is out there somewhere I apologize in advance.

What does superspeed mode actually do? I've seen the single sentence description (not loading certain plugins?), and seen it mentioned numerous times to enable the mode to speed things up a bit.

If so, why wouldn't it be enabled by default? What do I actually lose by enabling it?

It simply blocks every filters redundant for media playback forcibly.

If you enable it, every functions performing through kmp audio/video transform filters would not be available.

thanks for your response Z. I'm still unclear even after reading the other thread. Are you saying that enabling superspeed would in essence disable the video transform filter? In terms of video processing I use sharpen and denoise - will enabling superspeed disable those features?

You are right. KMP do many things using audio/video transform filters as well as dsp processing.

thanks for the info Z. I went ahead and disabled superspeed since I like the video processing features and I have a fast PC.
