View Full Version : (solved) Rec-file support and rew/ff-speeds?

Hello,
I just found this great player. But there are these two things that are in the way before it's perfect to me:
1. KMPlayer plays .ts files just fine but doesn't play Topfield set-top box's .rec files correctly, there's no picture and playback is just weird audio noises. Those rec-files actually are also .ts files, but in the start they contain a big header with EPG data and looks like that causes the problem. VLC was like that in earlier versions but they fixed it, please fix it also in KMPlayer.
2. Reverse and fast forward speeds, are those limited to 300% or am I missing some setting? I'd like them to go faster, audio is not necessary after 3x, but 12-16x speed would be really nice.
To verify the problem, .rec sample is needed.

If necessary, I'll try to edit a short sample and let you know where to download it. Or do you have a site where I could upload it?
But here is the thread about VLC's same problem:
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
In the thread was this message, maybe it and the included [Only registered and activated users can see links]'s header files already contains all the info you need:
"It is true that header in beginning of Topfield/Procaster recordings is not portable. How ever it is not very complicated to parse for reading. My Topfield 5x00PVRt compatible Procaster VF PVR5102T saves 3760 bytes of proprietary header in front of transport stream. It can also play *.rec files saved with MPEG Streamclip having only 1316 bytes long Topfield header.
I have made some headers available in [Only registered and activated users can see links]
You may read the information from headers with a short perl script I have written (originally for my personal use) to read and modify the Topfield header. That script ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) may help you understand Topfield headers. I am sorry the script does not have a proper documentation."
If necessary, I'll try to edit a short sample and let you know where to download it.
Where is it? :-]

Where is it? :-]Sorry for the delay. I just send you a private message with the file location.
To switch mpeg2 ts splitter to internal one will make it possible to play the ts file(.rec). The default one can not parse .rec correctly.
Working filtergraph as follows;
[Primary Filtergraph]
0) - test.rec
1) - KMP MPEG2(TS) Splitter
2) - MPEG Audio Decoder
3) - KMP Audio Codec
4) - NVIDIA Video Decoder
5) - CyberLink Audio Decoder (PDVD7)
6) - KMP Video Transform
7) - KMP Audio Transform(Copy)
8) - DirectSound Audio Renderer
9) - Video Mixing Renderer9(Renderless)

Rec-files are working fine now, thank you for the quick response and fix for this problem.
What about those ff/rev speeds, is 300% currently the maximum speed?
If in the future you add more speed, please also add adjustable steps to how the playback speed is changed. Now it goes in 10% steps and that is fine in some use, but 100% or bigger steps would be better most of the time, i.e. speed would change like this: 2x, 4x, 6x etc.
