After updating KMPlayer yesterday, the English language version shows many of those little squares instead of the English text in the "preferences". Especially all the Tab titles only show those squares. They are also present in other languages (though a bit less), but not in German (the language of my operating system) which is displayed properly. Is there a way to make the proper text appear in English wihout a complete uninstall and reinstall?

How did you update?

Actually a codec was reported missing (it turned out that the file that couldn't be played is most likely damaged), so I updated via this codec actualization procedure, and all that immense stuff started downloading all by itself. Took perhaps about 10 minutes till all was over. It was not via the official update function and was not even intended. ;)

Copy the the 05/01/2007 KMP release over it (full zip version - overwrite the files) and if it doesnt help, reset KMP (F2 -> Reset current preset) afterwards.

Thanks, copied it over and that corrected it on the spot! :)

BTW, my KMPlayer is 53,4 MB in size (6MB skins right now included). Is that still normal? Or can I reduce the size by deleting stuff?

(Also want to mention that I did not yet get notified about replies in this thread, though I clicked the instant email notification option when posting.)

Delete anything you want in kmp folder except kmplayer.exe and your language file. (Not recommended) :D

Really? Will it still be able to play any film (because of the codecs)? I just want it to be able to play any film that comes along. Don't understand anything about anything else, splitters, etc., anyway.

Of cause you should have suitable filters in your system corresponding to the filters to be deleted.

OK, then I think I will rather leave it as it is. (I know I don't have all the necessary codecs on my system, and I refuse to upgrade the codecs by installing the latest WMP11, or bloat my system with codecs ;)). Thanks!

I agree, leave it as it is. ;)

If you don't use media library and input plugin of winamp, it is good to empty the ../plugins/ folder as the plugins of winamp have an effect on launching speed of kmp.

Done! Thanks for the tip! Only just saw your answer, more or less accidentally, as it appeared first on the second page, and I was wondering why the last post was from "z" and I didn't see his post! ;)

Instant email notification still doesn't work.
