View Full Version : Record button

I would appeal if a REC button existed in order to record streaming radio and to save every single track with its tag name.
Pinnacle Steinberg MyMp3PRO (discontinued) does this, but this function in TKMP would be much better...

A record button would be useful for TV devices for recording as well :)

Hello,
As described in my two previous threads, I vote for a "Record" button, too, but not only for radio and TV, but also for starting and stopping audio and video captures more precisely. DVD X Player ( [Only registered and activated users can see links] ) has one (of course, KMP should also have DVD X Player's ability to play Region-DVDs without additional region-free software, and Blu-Ray Regions should be supported, too. One could add an option that removes RC and RCE from DVD files copied to harddisk and an option to copy DVDs and Audio-CDs to harddisk, so KMP can also work as a ripper).
Many greetings,
A Friend
I personaly dont want KMP to be bloated. And also, KMP is a PLAYER, not a ripper IMHO.

Hello,
In my opinion, KMP already HAS basic features of a ripper - it can capture video and audio files and pictures. A real "Disc Ripper" option would only simplify the process - you could copy the whole DVD or CD to harddisk (and convert if necessary) with one click and wouldn't have to copy all single files manually. And I think it is a good idea when a program can be used both for playing AND ripping.
But I think it is also important to support the different DVD and Blu-Ray Regions (also with RPC2-drives), since as far as I know there is no working free region-free software, and no free player can do that (the information about VLC is unclear: some say it can, some say it cannot. But anyway, VLC offers no possibility to define the RCE code, which is important for playing RCE-protected DVDs, and there is no option to remove RC and RCE from files copied to harddisk so you can play them. Since no free region-free software is available, I think a "Multi-Region" option is even more important than a "Disc Ripper" option. But I hope both features are regarded as important and will be added soon.
Many greetings,
A Friend
No, it's not. Though KMP has some features in regard of recording, it is only for a small video or audio clipping in real time. It is not so good idea to use kmp for ripping anything because it has been made as a professional player. It lacks many features for ripping and the structure is not suitable for ripping too.
As for the ripping a stream, try the streamripper plugin here:

It is not the same thing as a button, but it works perfectly well!
Thank you, I will please myself... :)

Will the only way to record from a television source internally be with the Short Cut keys only??
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
Hmm, I do not recommend to record TV-source using kmp. The function is not originally designed for that purpose. I've answered the similar questions many times... *sigh*
I'll consider more useful interface for capture later but do not expect too much. The developer do not want to add more features concerning to capture anymore as KMP is a player for video files. It must be concenterated mainly on video playback.
Thanks,
z

Okay no problem, I'll use this way instead
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
Actually, the function of capture is just for making a small videoclip when watching a divx etc movie. I've never thought it can be used in other way. If it is useful and stable enough to capture from tv-source, the last thing is to improve its interface. (It is not a verified function for that purpose.)
If you have a good idea for more convenient interface, just input anything.
It will be considered.
Thanks,
z

Hello,
If you don't want to add a real "Ripper" option, then please add at least a "Multi-Region" option for RPC2-drives. Since KMP is also designed for playing DVDs and since no free region-free software is available so far, this would be a great feature (the Blu-Ray Regions should be supported, too).
And of course, a "Record" button for starting and stopping audio and video captures more precisely would be very useful. Just as I said, the two features that DVD X PLAYER has.
I hope you will find the suggestions useful and add them soon.
Many greetings,
A Friend

If you want to record from DVB TV-source this is a valid solution --> DC-DVB Source ([Only registered and activated users can see links]). Check it out. It's a DirectShow Source Filter and blends nicely with The KMPlayer.
It's an alpha version from November 2005 but you'll find it works perfectly though it might require some tweaking. After registering the filter and scanning for channels you save the settings in a *.dvb file which will load in KMPLayer. :)
It supports full transport stream recording (MPEG-TS) or you can choose to record the selected channel in Microsoft's dvr-ms format (which KMPlayer is not able to play yet (at least to my knowledge) but BSPlayer ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) or Windows Media Player will do the trick, VLC ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) has preliminary support but isn't quite there yet, dvr-ms play is a bit jerky) One can use Avidemux ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) to convert the drv-ms file to another format.

Hi,
Please remember the "Multi-Region" option for RPC-2 drives. Since there is no free region-free software available that bypasses RC/RCE on the fly, this would be a very good option.
On the webpage [Only registered and activated users can see links] there is a free program called "FreeDVD" which can remove the Region protections from DVD files copied to harddisk (I have added it as .ZIP file). To make a first step, KMP could perhaps get this options (but of course one should also add the possibility to remove RC/RCE on the fly, so copying DVD to harddisk is not necessary).
Many greetings,

Needless to say for test purposes I choose 1Transponder on my DVB-S card to preview.
Unfortunately this does not open up in KM PLayer eg
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
So can you provide me with screenshots of how you have managed this with KMPlayer ???
What are you talking about here ?????
You can choose to record the selected channel in Microsoft's dvr-ms format (which KMPlayer is not able to play yet)
I can already view my DVB-S card with an appropriate application and can record it as a TS stream.

When I try to install it, it looks for the winamp's folder wich first doesn't exist on my PC. I finally managed to install Winamp :( and installed streamripper, made a copy of the streamripper files from winamp's plugin folder to kmp's plugin folder : StreamRipper launch but I cant rip anything....:(

I finally managed to install Winamp :(
I had worked hardly :p to avoid this... and these are results.
You only need:
"Program Files\Winamp\Plugins" and "Program Files\Winamp\Skins" (empty) folders [> create them]
+
"UninstWA.exe" and "winamp.exe" files [0 byte > create with Notepad  ] in Winamp folder
+
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\Winamp]
"UninstallString"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Winamp\\UninstWA.exe\" Registry entry.
Then install Streamripper (1.61.27), copy "Winamp\Plugins" resulting files in "The KMPlayer (2.9.3.1214)\PlugIns" folder... and it works! ;)
P. S.: which versions have you installed?
