Hi,

KMP seems to have problems with non-English letters in file names. A playlist stops playing when it comes to a file that has non-English letters in its name, shows a message "Cannot find / open file," and the name of the file will be misspelled in the "Playlist" menu :( . However, when you open the file in question directly (not from a playlist), the playback and the spelling of the name in the "Playlist" menu will be correct.

The same problem occurrs with the "Languages" menu: I have already suggested to give languages in their local names if possible. I renamed my language files "Español.ini," "Français.ini," "Português.ini," etc., but the menu reads "Espanol," "Francais," "Portugues," etc.

Many greetings,

A Friend

Hello,

This problem happens both with 2.9.3.1212 and the new 2.9.3.1213. The playlist was a .m3u playlist generated by MPC. When I generated a playlist with KMP, it worked :) . However, the problem of the "Language" menu still exists :( .

Many greetings :) ,

Which version of windows are you using?
Before explaining your problem, would you please pay attention to what I'm saying? It seems to be a system specific problem. Would you ask your friends if the same problem occurs?

I am sorry; I am using Windows XP Home SP2.

Please also take a look at the new information--and my apology--I have added to my thread "Region-DVD Playback" in the "Features Request" section of the Forum. I think writing an option that changes just ONE byte of a file saved to harddisk shouldn't be an exhaustive and time-consuming thing--and would help many users.

Thank you and many greetings,

Your suggestion will be taken into consideration, so please stop pushing it. This is not the right thread.

And what language version of Win Xp are you using?

Thanks for understanding

We are considering all the suggestions from users. But you may know the truth that it is very hard to give an assurance for the requests as it can be a false promise.

Thanks for your understanding.

My language version is German--I am from Germany.

My language version is German--I am from Germany.
By the way, I have found out that the "Uninstall" program doesn't show clear texts on screen--not even in English-- but only meaningless characters (it seems the program text is only in Korean, but my PC shows meaningless characters of the Latin alphabet).

I think the install script (NSIS) should be rewritten too.

I can't confirm this. I created a folder named teßt (as you see, it has a higher ASCII char in its name).
Than I copied some mp3 files into it and renamed them so, that all had at least one german umlaut in it.
Than I created an m3u file with some umlauts in its name.
After all I opened one single mp3 as well as the m3u and everything was displayed the right way and playback was ok.

I use KMP 2.9.3.1214 on XP SP2 on a german system.

2A Friend, may be the problem is gone, if you try the new 2.9.3.1214.

Can't find any problem with playlist, but there is problem with media library plugin and his playlists.
It's playing with my native language letters and correct regional options though, but refussing to play with other charsets (i.e. (禁アニメ 無修正) ~天使たちの翼~.avi or заичег.avi)
