Hello,

As I have already posted, I strongly believe KMP should get a Multi-Region DVD option as DVD X Player ( [Only registered and activated users can see links] ) has, since there is no free region-free software available that can remove the RC/RCE on the fly (The information about VLC's region-free abilities are unclear, but, anyway, VLC offers no possibility to set a RCE-code, which is important for watching RCE-DVDs.

A first step would be Multi-Region playing for DVDs copied to harddisk. I have added the free tool "FreeDVD" from [Only registered and activated users can see links] , which can remove protections from DVD files copied to harddisk. You could add its abilities to the KMP code, but please don't forget to develop a "removing-on-the-fly" option, so DVDs needn't be copied to harddisk.

And both harddisk and on-the-fly options should also support the Blu-Ray Regions.

I hope you will find my suggestions and "FreeDVD" useful and that KMP will be multi-regional soon.

Many greetings,

Dissolving Region of rpc drives or decrypting dvd css will not be implemented. It is too exhaustive and time-consuming task for freeware. Though kmp supports dvd playback, it does not have its own dvd interfaces. That's the reason why some problems of dvd playback is not solved easily in kmp.

Thanks for your understanding and concerning.

Hello,

Please think again of your decision.

Enclosed you will find another free DVD-decrypting tool, "DVD43." It can decrypt CSS on the fly. Some people say it can also dissolve DVD Regions, but it offers no possibility to set the RCE Region, as the harddisk tool "FreeDVD" does.

By adding the abilities of the free programs "DVD43" and "FreeDVD" to KMP's source code, it should be possible for KMP to become multi-regional without this being too exhausting and time-consuming for a free software. It would be great, since KMP would be then the first FREE really multi-regional player.

Since KMP stands for "KOREAN Media Player" think also of people in the two Koreas: South Korea has Region 3, which only a few countries have (and most DVDs are made for Regions 1 and 2), and North Korea is Region 5. A multi-regional player helps play DVDs from both Koreas and from other countries :) .

I hope the two programs are helpful, I have been able to change your mind, and KMP will be multi-regional soon :) .

Many greetings,

Don't get me wrong. K of kmp does not stand for Korean. When there was not available of the english version and forum yet in the early stage of KMP, some foreign users introduced the player as Korean Multimedia Player or windows version of KMPlayer in linux. Even some of them shared their wrong understandings saying that kmp has something to do with VLC that makes me a big laugh. :p

The full name of KMP is a K-Multimedia Player. The "K" of KMP simply indicates the initial character of the developer's family name(Kang).

Anyway, I think you've gone toooooo much far but I'll pass your opinion to the developer. Actually, this kinds of program does not work at all within the main program. (There are many applications to do the operation.) That is, someone can make it for kmplayer as well as other directshow based player.

Feel free to improve the situation.

Hello,

I would like to apologize for my ignorance - on the Internet some pages say "K" means Korean, and some say it means "KANG." If I wrote anything (else) that offends anyone, I regret it very much :o .

But at least an option that removes the RC from files copied to harddisk should be easy to create: the RC is in the file "VIDEO_TS.IFO" (table "VMGM_MAT"), byte offset 35 decimal (23 hex). Region-free (and RCE-protected) DVDs have the value "0" (decimal) or "00" (hex). All you have to do is a write an option that opens the file, checks the value of the byte, and corrects it if necessary. This shouldn't be more difficult than saving a playlist or a capture, not exhaustive or time-consuming.

Removing "RCE" is more difficult. It is often NOT in "VIDEO_TS.IFO," but in all other .IFO files. Enclosed you will find a file "RC-RCE.doc" that contents more information.

I am not a programmer myself, so I cannot write the option myself; I can only give information I found on other webpages, but I think for a programmer who writes great software such as "KMP," changing some values in files should be easy. Of course, an option that can dissolve Regions "on the fly" would be the best.

Many greetings and my excuses again, :o
