View Full Version : KMPlayer dies on MP3
At school, on some machines, KMP dies for some reason when I try to play an MP3. AVI plays OK, though. So far I've tried this on three machines, one is OK but on the other two, KMP dies when I try to play an MP3 - yes, I've tried different MP3's.
At home I have no problem whatsoever with MP3's and KMP on the two machines I've tried it on.
Any suggestions more than welcome!
Edit: Oops, forgot! Version 2.9.3.1214
Ooops, can you figure out the differences among the computers?
Sorry, no! I just tried it on a third machine. No dice! Very strange indeed. No big deal, though as I don't intend to use KMP for MP3's here at school. Only for videos, for which it is amazingly suitable! Sooooooooo great! In a class of its own. But I'd really like to find out what makes KMP die like that...
Edit: I can have a closer look at those machines on Monday. But what to look for, that's the problem... :(
Any help appreciated!
Tried KMPlayer on my son's computer. Sadly it did not work. I am attaching a file which hopefully will shed some light on the problem.
Lets try it the old way: reset KMP and if the problem prersists, post ctrl+tab info.

Well, I can do that on my son's computer. But not at school - there the programme simply dies when I try to play an MP3. So how do I fix the programme at school?
You can still try to reset KMP (F2 -> Reset Current Preset). Maybe try turning "SuperSpeed mode" on (F2 -> Playback -> Work priority).
And do the machines in school have a limited user account?
Are you using Win Xp SP2?

Will try that. Thanks!

I was logged on as myself. Not very limited.

Yes.

Tried again with Superspeed. No luck. KMPlayer simply died when I loaded an MP3. So I loaded an AVI and Ctrl+Tabbed. This info any good at all?

Try to reinstall full version. It may be the mp3 decoder in the system which is causing the problem. When you are trying to use the decoders installed in the system, you should set up the decoders of the system properly because kmp depends on it entirely.
OK, will do! Thanks!
Edit: Did a complete reinstall. Now it works OK. So thanks a lot, z and mad, for your kind and prompt support. You totally rock!
