View Full Version : KMP Won't associate with MP3

My system is running Windows XP Professional SP2; KMP is v2.9.3.1214. No routine that I've tried has been able to associate MP3 with KMP. Other programs can be set for this file type. And KMP will associate with other file types. But it's as if Windows refuses to "see" KMP. However, if I drag an MP3 file over to KMP, KMP will play the file.

Within the file association routine, there's a menu selection named "New." Within the "Advanced" mode here, a long drop-down pick list is displayed that shows a number of file-type associations with various programs. I noticed that KMP-MP3 is NOT available on this list. Could this be the problem?

Sorry that I can't be more specific in the menu sequences that I tried, but my long message to you was just eaten by a mistake, and I don't have time now to repeat the whole thing.

Strong suggestion:
Please make sure that "Help, About" is directly available in all skins in the expected place at top right of window. Please try to follow standard Windows screen conventions as much as possible. I know that it's not fashionable among media programs, but this willl really make life easier for users. It was too much work for me to have to figure out how to find the version number!

Thanks:
Richard

Did you press the Defaults button under Associations?
Follow the numbers on the attached image :).

Hope this helps.
