View Full Version : Scan thru video with mouse wheel at different rates

ZoomPlayer has a nice feature that lets you scan thru a video at different rates with the mouse wheel- if it is over the seach bar it scans several seconds forward or backward with each wheel click and if it is over any other part of the window it goes frame by frame (if you've configured it to do so).

It is a very easy way to quickly and accurately locate stuff in my video with a minimum of effort.

With KMPlayer I can configure it so holding the shift, ctrl or alt key down will modify the scroll rate, but doing it 1 handed is very nice.

(BTW, here's another request to allow scrolling a frame at a time with the mouse wheel.)

Download a Pureplus skin. In video mode there are two tabs at the bottom of the screen in left and right corner. They're preset to seek 5 sec. for. or back.
I had no need to explore but most likely the seek time can be changed. Pause a video and holding the left button (mouse) move the cursor along the search bar.
Please report back with your findings.

Val.

Clicking those little tabs jump forward and back by whatever the 1st jump interval is set to- that is what I've configured my mouse wheel to do.

Here's what I'd love:
-I've configured the mouse wheel to scroll forward and back in the vid
-If the mouse is over the controls at the bottom (or some other large area), it scrolls 5 seconds (configurable) forward or back
-If the mouse is over the video image, it scrolls 1 frame (configurable) at a time

That is how Zoom player does it.

Thanks,
Ken

Sorry to bring out the dead but I'd love to see this implemented too ... I would have hoped it was by now (without needing custom skins).

Simply when the mouse is over the seek bar (or the near controls) and you use the wheel then the movie should seek +/- 5 seconds.

You'd then have the basic control functions one needs when watching a movie all on your mouse, you no longer need the keyboard (if the mouse is wireless then you have a basic remote):

- accurate control of the volume with the wheel over the movie area
- accurate control of the seek with the wheel over the seek bar/controls
- pause/unpause/etc control with the mouse buttons

*bump*

Really sorry to bump this ... this feature is the only missing bit that keeps me from moving away from Zoom Player. Any confirmation that this will or will not be implemented or taken into account?

Sorry, the KMP development is stalling at the moment. I have no answer to your question.

Sorry to revive this ... seeing KMP development has come back to life, is there any chance the feature discussed above is going to be implemented?

Many thanks
