View Full Version : (fixed) Hiding Winamp's Media Library while in fullscreen mode

Hi,

Being a long, very long-time Winamp user, I've been advised to try your player after complaining from Winamp's increasing boot time over years.

From now on, I've been really impressed by your player: VLC-like perfect video playing, Winamp plugin support, and very high customizability...

So customizable that I've still not found how to do this simple thing: when I switch to any of the fullscreen modes, the Media Library window from Winamp remains on top on the video.

I'd like to know how can I configure The KMPlayer to hide the ML window while switching in fullscreen mode (and/or making fullscreen really fullscreen, above all other windows). I've tried to configure keyboard hotkeys to hide the ML with a single left-click and go fullscreen while double-clicking, but it doesn't always works as flawlessly as it does with Winamp.

I know that the ML is a separate window from your app, as it is a Winamp plugin, therefore, not as integrated as the other windows in the interface. But I suppose that you have already thought about a mechanism to address this issue, right? It really, really annoys me...

I'd have a lot of other questions and suggestions, but after spending some hours (yes, hours!) to try to configure your player to mimic Winamp's behaviour, I feel tired now, so I'll let you answer before asking something else ;)

Keep up the good work.
Regards from France,
Maxime

Yes, but... I'm very addicted to this Media Library :)
So I need a way to hide it automatically and flawlessly while switching to fullscreen mode...

Wait till next beta is out. It will be fixed.

BTW, I can guess your suggestions. :p
The KMPlayer is not a dedicated player for audio playback.

If you are really serious to play audio files, it would be better to stick to winamp or try foobar2000.

OK, so you're considering this as a bug.
Sorry for posting in the wrong forum, indeed!

Great news! I thought you'd considering this as being a small issue that would not need to be fixed quickly ;)

Actually, I like Winamp's Media Library because I need a good player to play all my audio AND video files, which means that it needs to organize them perfectly.

Sure, this ML is better when used with audio files (I suppose that's why you pointed this out) but, if I want to use it to search music using artist, album or song names, I also want to be able to filter all my videos in the same way, by title, so that I can quickly add all the episodes from a given show, simply by searching the show's name.

And the ML is a very, very complete tool for that, so I need it in a player, and that's why I took some time to look after yours which supports it ;)

I love Winamp which covers most of my needs, but it has some annoyances (slow startup, unstable when playing special video streams such as those recorded by VLC, no integrated video codecs, etc.). foobar is nice, but it only plays audio files, not videos ;)

That's why I was thought about your player, which as a lot of features I like, but which needs to be customized to be able to replace many audio players I have on my computer ;)

Of course, I can't have a player which can play ALL filetypes perfectly, as some filetypes have their own specificities. I have a dedicated player for MIDI files, another one for Amiga MOD-like files, and another one, Deliplayer, for more exotic formats like console chiptunes. But if I could use only one additional player (yours ;)) to play any other common file formats I have on my PC, I'd be happy to do so ;)

Hope I've been more detailed about my needs ;)
Your player has some little more issues (eg. quite buggy accentuated characters support in the ML), but I guess that I'll open another thread (or look for an existing one) to discuss about that ;)

Hmm, it's a known problem and isn't still figured out the reason why it cracks with some charactes. I'd rather suggest you to try MeXP, the ultimate media library.

OK, I'll try this out. I've seen that many people here appreciate this plugin.
So bad it's a shareware plugin :(
But if it really rocks, I could consider affording a license :)

Great, as promised, you've fixed this fullscreen issue with the ML with the latest 1275 beta!
Nice job, thank you.

Actually, other "on-top" apps I have on my second monitor (Multimon Taskbar and Motherboard Monitor's dashboard) still appear above the video playing, but, at least, it appears above the ML, which was what I was looking for.

Now, I'd have some questions to ask about Winamp input plugin support, but I'll open another thread about that if I don't find an answer among the existing topics ;)
