The file association issue may just be a problem with settings migrated from the last beta, don't get me wrong, it kept all the associations correct, but it doesn't show association icons with any file, it still shows WMP's logo; this bug wasn't existent on the last build. I run XP Pro Service Pack 2, in case this is a matter of bridging compatibility with Vista...
As well, the tabs on the preference menu's are in Chinese...Small gripes, but should be fixed.
Did you update the language file?
Also try to click "Restore to Prev" or "Defaults" in Associations and then "Apply to system" if it works.

Same problem here with tabs on the preferences menu, they are not in English (its in korean), although I have updated the language file.
Post a screenshot.
And do you use the default skin and english.ini (other languages might not be updated)?
Try to update the english.ini ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) in Language folder once more and reset KMP.

I'm on Vista and KMPlayer doesn't associate with files properly (running KMPlayer with Administrator permissions).
This screenshot was made after clicking on "Defaults", choosing the filetypes and "Apply to System".

Oh, btw, even though AVI is marked, it is still associated with WMP.

This is exactly what I get on Vista HP x64. Tried latest beta (2.9.3.1402).
