Hi i was wondering if anyone could help me with my setup

I'm currently running KMplayer using the Cyberlink video and audio decoders. My videocard is a GeForce 8600GT (forceware 163.16). I'm outputting it to a 42" plasma. I'm using WinXP SP2, and my cpu is AMD X2 3800+, 2 Gig ram.

I'm confused about a few things.

Video Renderer: Which is generally the best quality one? I'm able to use VMR9 and EVR. Is one better than the other?

Haali Media Splitter: SHould I use it? What are the benefits?

Hardware Acceleration: I'm confused on whether KMplayer is utilizing it or not.. when playing a 720p MKV file with EVR, Cyberlink decoders (with DXVA checked), my cpu is still around 30-40% use.

I read that i should be in superspeed mode and turn of the KM filters to use hardware acceleration, but when i do that, the image quality drops considerably. Is this supposed to happen?

ANy help would be nice.

thanks in advance

first you should try to install new nvidia beta 163.44 because XP dxva support is a new features. In Italian Av Magazine forum I support an user to configure KMP with a 8600GT for dxva support. The HW acceleration start correctly only with these drivers. You can't use evr because dxva support vmr9 renderer. so choose vmr9 renderless. for splitter use default. haali media splliter is not necessary.
I sugger create a brand new profile and keep all default option, set MKV on characther string to learn kmp to swtch the right preset for mkv file. put superspeed mode in priority tab. uncheck h264/avc1 and add cyberlink for these fourcc. that's all.

Thanks for the help! I got it working with the new drivers.. however it seems to stutter a bit, and i find the image quality better with the software decoding with the sharpen filters. I guess i'll stick with those even if they do use more cpu..
