Hi, the title of KMPlayer changes to my video file name which is not very useful as they usually aren't properly named ( 'I20102007A' ) is there an option to disable this or an option to let me append a file in the directory so it reads more useful descriptive string (e.g 'Camera I 20/10/2007 Afternoon')?
I'm sorry but I don't know well what you are talking about.
AFAIK, KMP dose not read the meta data of video files.
Can you make a small sample?

I have a similar problem. I want to use my remote control to handle kmplayer. My remote use a profile.ini for assign buttons to apps and function. I need the kmplayer's main window title to use it in this file, so to make a section for kmplayer. The title of main window used by profile.ini to define a section for the program that includes all the key assignments for kmplayer.
I tried [KMPlayer], [KMP], [The KMPlayer] but nothing of these doesn't work and the remote commands don't recognized in kmplayer. I know that these works, because if i use one default section only the remote works fine. But I want to use and other programs and not only kmplayer and for that I need the window title.
Hope to undestand what I need and someone can help me on this.

dancer69,
If you're using an old version, try the last official (1428) version. KMP always keeps the strings "The KMPlayer" in taskbar.

I use this version(2.9.3.1428) and don't recognized.

I think if the strings are there in taskbar, the problem seems not in KMP. With a long file name, the strings are like this:
"I'm a looooooooooooooooooooooooong file - The KMPlayer" :)
ps. To recognize the strings, KMP should stay in taskbar.

I think that the long filename is not a problem cause the section for pinnacle tv center that was in profile.ini file it was [Pinnacle tv center] and the remote finds the program and works perfect.

Well, you said that the remote program seems not recognize the strings. However, the strings are there. There are already a recognizable strings but it's not recognized. What do you think is the problem logically then?
If this is not an issue related with the strings of taskbar, there should be other detecting mechanism or the remote appl. seems not detect trailing strings.

This is from pinnacle's manual what I found about the window title:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each program has an individual keyboard layout. The name of the main screen of each program serves as the section name
Some screens, for instance in Word, change their name by using the name of the currently displayed document as an extension. Currently, only the „Fixed title - variable title“ theme is supported. In the section [title -], the fixed title part, including the hyphen, is assigned to another section name. For example:
Hexeditor HEdit:
[title -]
HEdit -=HEdit
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that KMPlayer change its window title, but this doesn't show. So I don't know which is the name of title to put it on profile.ini.

Ok, I've misunderstood something on this. Currectly there are no recognizable strings in "Window Title" of KMP. What I said is the strings in taskbar. Some remote programs use it.
The strings, "The KMPlayer", are not in Window Title. Strangely, the strings between Window Title which is invisible and Taskbar are not same. This should be a feature request or bug report.
The following is a window title of KMP while playing Asterix.avi. The strings in taskbar are "Asterix.avi - The KMPlayer". I think ahk_class also can be changed or disabled in preferences to avoid a conflict with winamp.
>>>>>>>>>>( Window Title & Class )<<<<<<<<<<<
Asterix.avi
ahk_class Winamp v1.x

I thought that the title exists and was just hidden, and maybe a program that displays the name of a window of an active proccess can help to find it out. But if doesn't exists at all I cannot do something at this time to make it work.

Thanks for your help. Problem solved!
The KMPlayer change the window title, so needs the (-) before the name. I put it and now recognized perfect.

ROFWL :D
The position of (-) sign was important. I can't believe it. :p

Sorry gays, doesn't work.:(:(:(
I had quoted the entry and thought that works(cause if use only the default section works). But doesn't. Need something more.
EDIT:
Finally I found it!!!
The window title name is K-MultimediaPlayer.
I use the Window Picker function of girder and I found the correct window title.

Unfortunately the problem still remains. Problem is what on first post mention. Without to open any file the remote works. But after a file loads the window title change to "filename - The KMPlayer" title and from this time the remote stop working. And, If I understand well the manual, only the Fixed title - variable title works, and not the opposite. I suppose that if the changing was "The KMPlayer - filename" the remote will be continue to work.
But at least the tv mode work fine.

Maybe... As I think Window title depends on playlist, what about writting "KMP" string before all names in playlist? In that way, you can customize the window title.
For example, write this in title format box:
KMP - [%artist% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))
And the window title will always be KMP - ... (although item position, e.g. [4/15] may also be shown)
