Hi all,

KMPlayer is by far the most versatile, and feature-rich player I have come across.

Unfortunately, I am unable to make the best use of this powerful application simply because I do not know how to set different controls to achieve a desired effect. Also, I often end up in difficult situation, and I do not know how to troubleshoot that.

Rather than posting different messages for each control, I would like to start making a manual in English, whioch provides this information. But considering my limited knowledge about the audio/video encoding, I will need collaborative effort from others.

I propose to form a small documentation team of volunteers, which can prepare different parts of the manual (screenshots, tables, etc.) and then put them together. We will need a website to post partially prepared chapters, screenshots, etc.

Or else it may be better to start with a wiki, rather than a manual.

Sorry if this is not the proper place to post this!

Pantuflo has created a help file in Spanish. Great work. I have plans to someday
(soon would be too obligatory) translate it into English as a base.

How about using machine translation? (e.g. Babel Fish website, where we can paste text from one language to get converted text in another). I believe Google also has a machine translation facility. Also, there are some offline translator software.

The idea is to do th bulk translation this way, and then add our own text.

Of course, I have never tried this so far. Anyone has any experience?

I have made a computer translation of the Spanish help, but I don't know how to convert it to chm, so I'm posting all files translated to English :)

Fantastic!

I can make a truly fantastic pdf file (with OpenOffice.org). It will have bookmarks panel (on the left, just like the CHM file). It will also have clickable links in the text.

But first we must correct translation mistakes, replace the Spanish screenshots with English screenshots, add new topics, expand the existing text, etc.

BTW the material is so good that we can right away start a wiki!
(People can go on editing the pages to make them richer in contents.)

If that is not possible, here is an equivalent trick:
We can start a separate thread for each topic, and let the members post their additional knowledge for that topic.

Later, just collate all the discussion in each each thread into a chapter (or a sub-topic in a chapter) of the manual.

Ideas welcome!

Take into consideration that it is Pantuflo's work to begin with and perhaps it would be a good idea to discuss the continuation with him. I originally wanted to translate his work and perhaps continue in English but in a way that it could be retranlated into Spanish.

I had another look at the English translation, and I find that it is not what I had in mind. As a result, I have re-planned the manual (both contents and structure). That includes a lot of new material. So the final product will be entirely different.

Having said that, we should contact him as a matter of courtesy.
What is the best way to do that?
(Would he be reading this thread?)

BTW I will be sharing the source (odt/doc) file, so that anyone is free to edit/translate and re-release it in any language (including Spanish). Of course, there would be no claim to any authorship, as I intend this to be a collaborative effort like a wiki (but in pdf form).

@reverse translation:
Except for the screenshots, everything will be in odt/doc file, so machine translation into ANY language would be easy. But machine translation is not perfect; so additional manual editing would be definitely required.

The screenshots have to be different for each language. But once done, they will not require frequent changes.

All in all, this aspect is well addressed.

If there is anything I can help, let me know that.

:)

Waldemar Sikorski,
It's impossible to use the output plugin of winamp. The structure of output plugin is not like the audio renderer used in directshow applications. I personally think KMP almost reaches the limitation of development for a video playback.

Of course, there are still miles a way to go for playing audio files but it'll make KMP bloated. Therefore it's my recommendation to use the player specialized to play audio files if any of you feel lack of features in KMP.

Z, I feel lack of a feature in KMP: it doesn't bring me coffee at the bed...

It's simply perfect, Z! Besides the almost weekly beta updates, we may count with a support that many big enterprises doesn't give! :)

Thanks to you and all the development team!

P.S.: excuse any English error, please!

Like I wrote you Z some time ago, I discovered KMP by accident and decided to explore. Visual diversity (skins) was the selling point. The vast capabilities of KMP I started to explore later.
I'm not professionally prepared to comprehend everything the player has to offer and often have to rely on Google. Someone was inquiring about crossfading so after googling I came up with the wrongly placed question.
BTW I am from another planet.
To summarize you earthlings have done a wonderful job. Some bloating wouldn't hurt though.

Thank you Z.

P.S. Yes, yes I know.

Back to main subject of this thread. :)

I need a detailed listing of all menus. I tried Resource Hacker, but the menus are not listed. Can someone extract them and post them here (or create a downloadable zip file)?

I want to make tables out of the menus+submenus, and explain what each does. (left column will contain the menu item, and right item will contain the explanation).
