For users who are using KMP on their HTPC to watch recorded TV shows, the option to automatically move to the next file by date is very handy, almost indispensable. In this type of situation, you're not sitting at a desk with a keyboard & mouse, but sitting on the sofa with a limited remote control looking at your TV. When you come home from work & sit down to watch what you've recorded, you don't want to watch all your InuYasha episodes, instead you want to watch the local news, national news, a sitcom, and then a documentary in the order they were recorded.
This is naturally intuitive, allows you to begin the process even before the evening's last program has begun recording, and also helps prevent disk fragmentation. It also could be an easy way to watch episodes of an individual TV show in chronological order, regardless of the episode title. Sorting files by date is a native Windows feature, so hopefully this could be easily implemented.
Ideally, this would be a sub-option of "Load a previous/next file at top/bottom of playlist". Alternately, or in addition, the option to sort the File Navigator and Playlist by date would work almost as good. :)
