View Full Version : Option to Pause Playlist at end of each file

A handy feature former Zoom Player users are accustomed to is the option to not auto play the next file in a playlist. In other words, pause the playlist at the end of each file. This is especially handy in an HTPC / Tivo type setup where you want to instruct the system on what to do next, rather than have to fight to make it stop. Also handy in situations where you might fall asleep halfway through watching a playlist. Furthermore, it allows the PC to suspend/hibernate as appropriate, rather than continue to churn through hours of videos (more eco-friendly ;)).

Yes, I've got that option selected, but that doesn't make KMP pause at the end of each individual file, only at the end of the playlist.

I would like KMPlayer to have this option also.

Right click on kmp > Playback > How to open file(s)
Tick "open selected file(s) only" and enable "load prev/next file in folder".
If you need to play next file, push PageDown Key.

Thanks for the replies, but none of these suggestions work. No matter what I do, if I have several files loaded in a default playlist, KMP will go directly from the end of one file to the beginning of the next file in the playlist. I'm using version 1428, waiting to see what 1431 has to offer.
(Somewhat off topic- The only partial exception to this "autoplay next" behavior is mpeg2 files created by my TV tuners freeze on the last frame. I haven't complained about that since I prefer that behavior to the default "autoplay next" behavior. I also thought this freezing might be related to my Intervideo decoder not being fully supported on Windows 2000, but most other mpeg2 files don't freeze on the last frame.)

To follow the steps that mouse posted, you have to clear the playlist first of all.
Then, you open the first file (and only one item will appear in the playlist). If you press pagedown key (playback -> next) the next file will be played (and it will be added to the playlist).
A "stop after current" feature like in e.g. Winamp will be good.

Can you test your setup on a XP machine?I'll be upgrading to XP in the next few months, I'll try to report back on if Intervideo behaves differently, but KMP is behaving as designed.

Ah yes, that makes sense, but still not what I'm looking for since currently KMP can only play the next file alphabetically by name using this method. I usually drag a day's worth of TV recordings into KMP's playlist & just watch them in the order they were recorded. Often, I'll fall asleep somewhere in the playlist and have to try to remember where I left off. Also, in this situation, KMP keeps playing for hours instead of letting my computer power down. If KMP were able to play the next file by date instead of just alphabetically by name, then the current functionality would work great for me. A "stop after current" feature like in e.g. Winamp will be good.Agreed! :)
