I have the same thing. KMP's avi source filter seems to have problems with this file. Changing it to "system default" solved it for me.
Press F2 > "Source Filter" > tab "General" > Change the AVI Source Filter/Splitter for Damaged AVI to "System Default".
My system default is Windows' own avi splitter.

What You cut this sample?
In this sample file missing index and 'movi' block - file is damaged.
Please upload new sample file again.
As above, can't play correctly with internal AVI splitter.
Can't play with Gabest AVI splitter (freeze frame).
But can with default system AVI splitter.
Use AVI-Mux GUI ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) or Avidemux ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (save without recompressing - just copy for audio and video) to re-muxing (fix 'movi' block and reindexing) this video file.

Why? The screenshot was probably made from the original file, which shows the same behaviour, so the original file probably has the exact same problem as the sample. The Avidemux solution works great by the way.

Indeed.
Even if it's 'brute force' cutting - missing only index (because is locate in end file). And i'm think, missing index it's no problem for internal and Gabest splitter.
Probably real source problem it's missing 'movi' block (stored data info about video).
BTW. Can't re-indexing or edit in VirtualDub.

Encoding application might be a problem.
Writing application : Windows Movie Maker 2.1
The sample plays fine on my system since it make the same problem as shown in the picture. The point here is than other players like media player classic or nero player are able to handle the problem better than kmp.
with what I make the sample?:p
I use the tool "Filesplt" provided in the forums here

Well, other players might use avi splitter installed by default from Microsoft. Remember that the other players do not distinguish the avi splitter between normal avi and damaged avi.
ps. Does nero player have its own avi splitter? If there is no problem with MPC, internal avi splitter of MPC might be disabled. No surprise at all.. Avi files encoded by Windows Movie Maker 2.1 are probably recognized as a damaged avi file at least in KMP.
I check out a few stuff!
Vlc plays the file without any problem but Mplayer get the same problem as kmp.
And yea, the internal splitter of mpc is off

...

It's 'brute force' method. Just binary cutting - not save frame index (because it's locate on end AVI file).
Sometime useful when need sample file to tests and can't use standard tools for video files (example VirtualDub).
Encoding application might be a problem.
Possible, but not WMM.
... Avi files encoded by Windows Movie Maker 2.1 are probably recognized as a damaged avi file at least in KMP.
Not WMM - because WMM can save/encode only to WMV and DV-AVI and can't use external codecs (Xvid, DivX).
I'm think... just someone edit source video in WMM, save/compress as WMV and recompress to AVI used other application (leave ISFT tag and not add own).
I'm see two used codecs in user data - DivX and Xvid. Twice recompression...?
Possible file damage when encode used some application (not WMM) or when downloaded from net (example by torrent).
...
Vlc plays the file without any problem but Mplayer get the same problem as kmp. ...
Indeed. I'm check this before. But it's not relate to KMP (i'm think).
BTW... VLC can fix some damaged video files 'on fly'.
VLC not use (and can't) external filters/codecs. Similarly MPlayer, but with few exceptions.
... And yea, the internal splitter of mpc is off
BTW... internal splitter contained in MPC it's... Gabest AVI Splitter.

Use Avi Gabest Splitter 1.0.0.9, because video is all messed up with only KMP AVI Source Filter & KMP AVI Splitter. It's propably a new bug ;)

VirtualManPL, You are sure?
I'm check this sample before, of course with actual Gabest AVI Splitter (latest version patched by clsid on Guliverkli2 ([Only registered and activated users can see links])).
With older Gabest splitter - video image looks as on screenshot from first post.
With latest version (1.0.0.9) this splitter - video play, but just freeze on 1 frame.
New bug? Not. It's just damage video file.
(BTW... VfW codecs (in VirtualDub) can't correct decode this sample.)

Hehe, but You check full movie release - not 'brute force' cutting sample file from first post.:p
Well, it's possible.;)
That's why i'm ask for new sample file.
@ Placio74
I am sorry for not uploading a new sample but I think it's better to just download the episode itself. In anycase Thanks alot for your support:D
@ VirtualManPL
Confirm, with the lastest Gabest splitter, the epsidoe plays well. I could not tell that the video file is damage.:p
Confirm, with the lastest Gabest splitter, the epsidoe plays well. I could not tell that the video file is damage.
Yes the episode plays well with the latest Gabest splitter but I think the video is damaged because KMP only load the Gabest splitter if it's selected in the "Damaged AVI".
Anyway damaged or not, it doesn't work with the KMP AVI Source Filter and if it works with the latest Gabest splitter then that means the KMP AVI Source Filter needs to be updated.

Unfortunately, I don't have your problem. If you cannot solve the problem with KMP by changing the avi splitters, please stick to the working solution without KMP.
