Hi,

Is there a way to make KMPlayer appear under the Media Player's list in "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults"?

Even though KMPlayer is associated to all media types, I don’t think Windows recognizes it as the default media player. I’m telling this cause, with Winamp, once and while the keys (play/pause/stop/next/previous) on my keyboard used to stop working. Making Winamp the default media player (it was on the list) would make the keys work again.

I wonder if that’s not the problem with keyboard keys mentioned on other posts…

Multimedia keys don't work correctly in some cases - KMPlayer 2.9.3.1375 ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

Look at this post:

I think that the fact of KMP not appearing in the "Default programs" is not a problem, also, I don't think file association to be related to the behaviour of the multimedia keys in a keyboard...

What's exactly your problem with the multimedia keys and in which way is it related to those cases you linked to?

The problem is that multimedia keys only work when KMPlayer windows is active.

I had the same problem with Winamp (in XP Pro SP2 and Vista Home Basica and Ultimate). Making Winamp the default Media Player in "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults" would make the multimedia keys work fine in both windows.

I've tried Pantuflo suggestion (Windows Registry), it didn't work.

Hi mouse,

The problem is that KMPlayer doesn't appear on the list.

That "Vista integration" will require a little work from KMP developers as some special commands are needed.

How to make that registration:

Have you tried to enable Global Hotkeys? Right click -> Options -> Winamp Window -> Preferences. Go to Global Hotkeys and enable them. Maybe enabling them your multimedia keyboard will work with KMP minimized.

It worked! :D (On Vista Home Basic, later I'll try on Vista Ultimate and XP Pro SP2).

I'm sorry if I've missed that on some previous thread on this forum. Before that, I've enabled Global Hotkeys on: Right click -> Options -> Preferences (F2) -> Keys/Global Control, which didn’t work.

Thank you everyone. Now KMPlayer is the only one (auido/video) player on my PC. :)

On Windows Vista Ultimate I got the message:

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

Maybe there's an active process which has those keys registered as the same time as Winamp hotkeys plugin tries to do the same.

I don't have Winamp on this computer, the onle player installed is Windows Media Player 11 that came with Vista and, and it can not be uninstalled, at least I don't know how (I've searched on Google).

I meant "winamp global hotkeys plugin" in KMP.

It could be another process (you can look at the task manager) which is monitoring those keys, so KMP can't register them... but I don't know, it's only a possibility.

Deleting "gen_hotkeys.dll" in PlugIns folder and then: Right click -> Options -> Preferences (F2) -> Keys/Global Control made all keys work.
