great sound no picture

:(i have windows player 9 i also have limewire i downloaded 3 different movies and all i got was sound no pic went to a chat room in yahoo they told me to download this because it is very versatile and will play any type of file so i did......... but i have no pic the sound is great though...... do i have to get rid of window player 9 and my nero program to get this to work...... the sound is nice and rich better than windows... im not sure how to set this up..... please if anyone can help me with this please do ty in advance!!!!! brent a rudolph aka rudolpho

What kind of files have you tested? What's your KMP version? OS?

Press Ctrl+Tab while playing the video and then paste here the report obtained.

It could be related to the video renderer or to the splitter... but first of all post the Ctrl+Tab info here.

Post your info too. Since it's the same problem, it could be useful to compare both situations and try to give you an "universal" solution.

It could be a subject matter of study... Compare many of the "first replies" asking for the same information and try to analyze what strange phenomenon is causing it (and then, find a solution and evolve to a better forum...) :)

Thank You. I think my problem is a missing video codec. I am trying to use the new KMPlayer 2.9.3.1430 beta. I have a video with file ext .ts that is a recording from a PVR I am attempting to play on a PC with Windows XP.

Yes, in fact, I almost had the same problem before (no sound, great picture), and installing Haali Media Splitter (which can be downloaded in this page: [Only registered and activated users can see links] ) I solved it. My topic may also be in this forum, but I am too lazy now to find it, lol.

With 1428 I get video and audio, but the video is all skewd to the left side of the screen, i'll play with it and see if I can figure out whats wrong. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Dave.

Try to reset KMP, if problems persist.

ok everyone........ its working now......i have a nividia 6100 video card on board my motherboard.....anyway i updated my drivers and now it works......ty for all the advice brent a rudolph

i cant' render a couple with any Kmplayer but probably becaue i have 2000 Professional...AS FAR AS NO PICTURE BUT SOUND...here's what happened with me...i had 1428 but no render on a couple...then 1214 still no render...liked 1214 but saw 1430 came out so i installed that , bam , GREAT SOUND NO PICTURE after i used it nicely a couple times i think...so, instead of going back to 1214 i now have 1428 again and it works fine except it doesn't render on a couple, no big deal...i had a wee difficultey finding a site that had 1428 again but not that much trouble...so, i suggest you just install 1428 over whatever you have to see if that works...also, this is just me personally...i have Windows Media Player an old version, VLC Player, QuickTime, RealPlayer, DIVX, Winamp etc ... VLC...VLC plays anything...Quintessential plays anything...Divx plays anything...but, i use KMplayer 99.99% of the time...i'd never have WMP 9...or Nero...KMplayer is light years the best with all its features and class...i'd install 1428 over it once...if that doesn't work i'd uninstall, delete the 'The Kmplayer folder in Program Files, reinstall[/B]
