Why doesnt KMPlayer become my default player after installation instead of goin through all those settings.Every other player has that option wherein once it is installed it becomes the default player, but tat aint the case in KMPlayer.
I love KMPlayer but i would have really loved if this feature was also introduced coz when recommend KMPlayer to someone else they cnt figure out how to make it default and they ask me if this was such a gr8 player then y didnt it have default association rather than doin it manually:(
Hope ya guys look into this:)

Consider this-all other players trick you, hoping on you staying with them. Many other apps do the same. I prefer to be asked, not surprised.

well yeah but the so called "defaults" button does NOT associate the selected filetypes.

Press select all>apply to system>close. You've just associated all files with The KMPlayer.
Pressing Defaults reverts that change (to whatever associations there were).

I think knoughtyd was referring to some kind of "file association wizard" after the KMP installation, as e.g. other players offer this possibility after installing them. Associations tab in Preferences window could be considered for experienced users.

Some players when installed, automatically(or when one does not pay attention) become default.
Regardless-there was some buzz on the Korean forum in reference to how to improve the installation process or the installer itself. Often hard to understand without enough Calvados (google translate makes things funny).
Z could be of some help here.

I remembered when i first installed kmplayer, i was quite surprised that no file association wizard was part of the whole setup process.
I always thought that this was a bit odd, especially since lots of other media players do have a file association wizard included in their installer.
Also, of all applications an application such as kmplayer is the one application that really should have a have a file association wizard included in the installer, simply because kmplayer supports a huge amount of different file types.
Also, a file association wizard will make kmplayer much more accessible to normal users, who may not even know what a file association is, let alone go through the lenghty process of going through all the menu's, without an idea of what they are really looking for.
If it is decided to include a file association wizard, please, please do not make the mistake to break the silent install by having the file association wizard pop up, during the silent install.
If the file association wizard is going to be included, then please also include silent install support for it.
I already added a feature request for this right here:

You can make the association by using the setup wizard (download the latest version if you don't have it). It's opened automatically after the installation process, or you can manually run it (in the start menu or by double-clicking on KMPSetup.exe in KMP folder).
