Customizable and fast slowmotion and fast forward

It's my first post, so Hi all!
Yesterday, tired of vlc crashes, I tried this player. It's really a great player.

Only one thing i found uncomfortable: using slowmotion and fast forward:
- fast forward is only 300% faster than normal stream (with vlc I often used 8x speed)
- speed increases/decreases by 5% at time. It would be more useful for me to increase it with different values (for example 50% for a single click) or, better, to set a different increasing method (for example, 2x for a single click).
The goal for me is to use FastForward like I did in old vcr (or in modern dvd/dvix stand alone readers)... I always found strange that PC's player don't implement this useful feature.

Obviously there are situazions in which my approach is more comfortable, other in which is more comfortable kmplayer standard approach.
So would be great if I can personalize this feature.

This is an issue already discussed several times before and I think there would be no further changes.

IIRC, it was impossible to play normal videos with 8x speed even in VLC. Isn't it a DVD?

VLC plays videos at 2x, 4x, 8x.
That's true, however, that at 8x it doesn't work smoothly ever, sometime at 4x too... it depends on video codec, bitrate and support quality.
However I often use 8x speed with my divX on DVD or hard disk support, and it works quite well.
PS: in vlc audio is not reproduced, but it's not a problem for the use I need to do. If necessary, kmplayer could exclude audio for speeds greater than 3x (maximus speed now for this player).

aside 8x issue, what about personalize increasing/decreasing step? I think it would be very simple to add. Or use a "bar" like volume one... (is it possible with a skin?)

Open the Control Box (Alt+G) and try to locate the speed control slider bar.

But if drop the indicator it returns on the 1x position. I have to hold it on the desired position.
And the bar is not much confortable for occasional use, because generally I don't display the contrl box.
However, it's something good ;)

That sounds weird. Download the latest version and reset your settings.

You can associate e.g. Alt+mouse wheel to playback speed control (in Preferences -> Keyboard/mouse), it's another possibility.

ah, I though that it was an intentional feature... something similar to the jog control ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) of my old vcr.
The other problem is that the spped bar is in the "audio" tab, but every time I open the Control Box, it open on the first tab (Equalizer).
PS: I noticed another strange issue: if I clic and drag speed indicator, it moves according to mouse movement along the bar. If I click on the bar, the indicator moves very slowly in that direction, but doesn't return on the 1x position when I drop mouse button.

I've last version (not beta I think, it's 2.9.3.1428) and I simply unpacked zip version.

I've already associated speed control to mouse whell (without "alt", but it seems to be a good idea), but going ftom 100% to 300% needs many mouse wheel rounds (I hope this is the right word :p ).
Infact I asked to add the possibility to change speed increase rating in order to move from 1x to 3x in a single mouse wheel round.
It would be useful too if the button would support continuous click (so if il leave pressed, it fastly increases speed to 300%).

ps. As you may know, the limitation of the fast forward in normal video files is due to the fundmantal structure of directshow and video containers. I don't think it could be easily enhanced in a video player as the problem is not in the player. That's why I think there would be no further changes and it's almost hard to find a solution available on the market. The playback speed control of KMP is not for fast forward but mainly for the people hearing lectures etc. It makes sense in this regard as playing at 2x speed can save times. I think there would be a valid reason why the maximum speed of playback is limited to 3x.

About faster video speed, it's simply a feature I miss because I often used it with vlc.
I don't now about vlc implementation, but, as I sayd befeore, it works enough fine (and because of this it seems possible to implement!).
In this moment, it's the only feature I miss... this player seems to me more stable and more powerful, so I'll use it nevertheless this "lack". 3x speed is good enough ;)

another little request... is there a way to lock the playlist to the right edge of the player or, better, to merge it with the player? (wmp9 style)
The problem is that, if I resize the player's window, the magnetization is lost... for example, if I play a movie with a resolution greather than previous movie, the window oversize and the playlist cover the the right edge of the video (i place the playlist on the right).

I downloaded a lot of skins.. obviously none of that with embedded playlist or jog bar control! =_='
Thanks for the list... I'll see about that and I hope to find a skin with both the features I need!

EDIT: I looked for other skins but... i didn't find anything with embedded playlist!
