I have Windows Vista and I play movies with KMplayer without any problem. But when I close the player all windows that I open have strange appearance in their upper part. They seem somehow "destroyed". I really hope that somebody could tell me what causes that problem and how I can fix it.

After closing KMP, open the task manager and check if KMPlayer.exe has been really closed.

You can try to run KMP with admin rights.

Also look at the video renderer you are using (right-click -> Video Advanced -> Video renderer) and try to change to another one.

It could be a broken graphic drivers issue too (you can try to update them).

Hi!

When I close button, the kmp window disappers, but the task manager says it still running and using 25% cpu. While then (i think) the default win message sound "stucks" somewhere and repeats itself. it won't stop even after is close the kmp in the task manager.

kmp version 2.9.3.1430, vista x64

You can either run KMP with admin rights or install KMP in a folder with admin rights (like Desktop, Documents...).

it's an old known KMP bug.....it wouldn't shutdown when you exit it.

oh cool there's a new version(too bad it needs to be installed.....)

No need to install, you can open the .exe file with e.g. 7zip and extract the compressed files.

well winrar can't extract the files of that .exe

it's a bug related to the "open a new thread to avoid freeze", anyhow it's always been here for me and several other members.

you close KMP, but it never exits....you have to kill the process.

Can't open it with winrar either lol... don't think that's possible haha

It does still suffer from freezing when closing... shame. I hoped the next release would fix it but I guess not. Seems it only happens tho when using external codecs as when using internal it closes fine.

(Yes I know the obvious answer is to not use external codecs then, but that's what I prefer and get much better playback performance. This should be fixed on the players end not the users end)

By the way, the decoder can be the problem, not the player. What's the decoder you are using?? No problem in other players with the decoder? How can we recreate the problem??

Well ffdshow is definitely it, KMP will sometimes load more than 1 instance (sometimes not tho, it's very random) of either video or audio, and when it does it's a 99% given that it's going to freeze when closing.

KMP is the only player that does this. MPC, WMP, and Zoomplayer never does this.

It sounds strange. I'm also using ffdshow, but never had such a problem. :? Probably, there seems to be a problem in series of filters to be connected. The configuration of KMP seems not correct with external filters.

^Is very possible. I'll have to go through it again and check all the external settings.

Edit: Well everything is set up fine, I don't think it's on my end...

The new beta seem to work perfectly, at least so long.
Thx!

(the previous worked well too for about a 3 weeks, but suddenly went wrong I don't know what messed it up)

and... does this post pertain to the closing issue or are you just posting in this particular topic just to say thanks? Because it surely does not work perfectly...

For me it works... If I close the kmp, it shuts down normally. Only one another bug I encounter, sometimes if I use the arrow keys (to jump forward 5 sec), the screen becomes black.

kmp version 2.9.3.1430, vista x64

problme confirmed.
version: 2.9.3.1431, vista 32
problmes:
1. after closing KMP, it still shows up in task manager with about 25-50% of CPU
2. it has stucks sound like "din-din-din...." even force KMP to be closed in task manager. found the sounds is from "windows sound" so you can avoid that sound by click on speak tray icon, mixer, and mute the windows sound. or just restart the computer, thr problem is gone. this only happens after closing KMP.
