hi there,

got 2 questions if you don't mind :D

1)is it possible to use KMP's subtitles functions with Haali's Media Splitter ?
seems to only work with the "KMP Matroska Reader"

2)is it possible to use the "seamless playback" function with audio files ?!
it seems to only work for videos :(

Thanks,

mad

Nope :)

Yep, no problem (see screenshots)
2)is it possible to use the "seamless playback" function with audio files ?!

If I am correct, there is no such function for audio. But I could be wrong, as I dont use that function and I dont use KMP for audio playback.

ok cool thanks for the screenshots.

but I don't have any subs with these options and Haali's Splitter....they don't show.

only works with KMP Matroska Reader :(

I've tried to change overlay/on image for the subs, and I'm in High Speed Mode

it doesn't show "embedded subtitles" like on your screenshot ?!

also, randomly my mouse pointer is corrupt with KMP + HR ?!

I got HR set to 256mb/256 frames....gonna try to set it to 200/200....maybe it's due to a lack of memory ?

and also my mouse cursor shows up for no reason in a middle of a movie...

these 2 issues never happened with MPC HC + EVR before....

such a struggle to get a HTPC working :(

Reduce the frame numbers up to the lowest value in Haali's Video Renderer configuration.

Do the subtitles work with VMR9 video renderer and subtitles in VMR mode?

scratchy
05-02-2008, 08:28 AM
yeah sorry, I should have mentioned that I did my homework before whining here :D

-min settings in HR, still no subs
-VMR9, still no subs
-any flavor of "on screen",gdi, ALT+V....same old, same old

even enabling the KMP video transform filter or resetting KMP doesn't help

oh well, I can live with the KMP Mastroska Splitter I think....

just wondering why mad gets a "embedded subtitles" menu, and I don't :(

goddamn, you're good!!!!

I'm gonna ask the ffdshow team to disable that stupid option :D

thank you so much!

I still don't know why my mouse pointer shows up in the middle of a movie ?!
never happened with MPC HC + EVR

I've assigned a program called "nomousy" to one of the buttons on my mouse.......very pratical :D

and I've set HR to 128/120 instead of 256/256, this was smoother than ever with Reclock@24 and pstrip@48 ...... hopefully this will also fix my randomly corrupted mouse pointer problem as well :D

hehe

btw, is it possible to override the vertical placement of ASS/SSA subs ?

it seems to only work for SRT :(

is it possible to override the vertical placement of ASS/SSA subs ?

If you have the external subtitles module enabled, enable "Force user's font settings" too.

scratchy

are you sure ?

if I do that, I get a tiny font instead of a big one..........but I still can't move it vertically :(

Pantuflo
05-03-2008, 07:12 PM
I get a tiny font instead of a big one
That's because you enabled "Force user's font settings"... (and you have a small size in font settings).

I still can't move it vertically
Maybe it's because font styles embedded in .ssa format. I realized that KMP can only change the vertical position when "default" style is used.

So... you can either disable external subtitles module or edit the .ssa subtitles file (after de-muxing the .mkv file) and add a suitable margin.

05-03-2008, 07:19 PM
ahhhhhhhh, you're right.......thanks for the heads up :p

I can move ASS/SSA subs vertically with the KMP Matroska Reader + the internal subs parser.

the only fix I found in MPC HC/Vobsub was to extract and convert them to SRT...annoying :(

when properly set, KMPlayer is really the best player around......and when you match it with Reclock/ffdshow/EVR......it's dynamite

only annoying issue is when KMP freezes at shutdown.........I've tried to toggle the "open a new thread to avoid freeze" option, but it doesn't work too well :(

05-05-2008, 07:47 AM
oh well, Haali's Splitter is much smoother, whatever with EVR or HR....

so I'm back to demuxing ASS/SSA, and converting it to SRT I guess :D

If you are going to convert the subtitles to text subtitles (not formatted like ASS/SSA) you can use "Rebuild and save subtitles" in KMP to save them in .smi format.

Haali's splitter + internal sub-parser works well though.

you can use "Rebuild and save subtitles" in KMP to save them in .smi format
It's impossible to do that with embedded ass subs.

Pantuflo

It's impossible to do that with embedded ass subs.
Maybe it's only possible in my computer or my .mkv samples are wrong.

Hmm...

I've checked that function again and confirmed KMP converts the subtitle streams only stripped in subtitle explorer. It's incomplete. :)

so you can move ASS/SSA subs vertically with the "KMP Matroska Reader", but not with the external subs reader ? :(

If you are going to convert the subtitles to text subtitles (not formatted like ASS/SSA) you can use "Rebuild and save subtitles" in KMP to save them in .smi format.

OK thanks for the tip, I'll run more tests
