Folks,

KMP is a tremendous piece of SW, one of the best I've ever encountered.

I use it to play DVDs, and also use the A/B playback looping with AVI's to learn how to play various songs on the guitar. Everything plays just fine.

My problem is with hotkeys: when I use the A/B looping with AVIs,the only way I am able to set A and B points, etc is to drill down thru the menu trees with a mouse. I've tried the various hotkeys (eg, hitting F5 to set an "A" point, F8 to toggle looping on/off, etc.), but they do not work for some reason.

I looked thru the threads, and saw the references to the "support for media hotkeys" setting in KMP preferences. I've tried the A/B hotkeys with that preference setting both checked and unchecked. They don't work either way.

I'm running XP Service Pack 2, with the current KMP version.

Any help and guidance is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

F5->F8 works for me. Try resetting KMP. Some skins (Pure+ for example) have A B function on the skin.

Waldemar,
Thanks for the suggestion, but still no joy.

What skin are you using? Can I download it somewhere?

I went to options/preferences and hit "Reset Current Preset", but F5, F6, F8, etc still have no effect. (Other keys -space, cursor keys, etc work fine)

You mentioned that some skins have the AB function "on the skin". I assume this means that the particular skin specifically assigns function keys to the various actions available in the playback control sub-menu?

If so, where can I find a skin that does that?

Apologies for being a rank noob at this.

Thanks again

Sigh

Never mind - my bad.....Windows isn't recognizing any of the function keys from the keyboard, so I have a Windows hardware/driver problem.

F'ing Redmond buttheads.

Thanks for your time

If you go to Preferences (F2) -> General -> Keys/Global Control, you can also change the hotkeys used for A-B Repeat.
