I'm new user of KMP (2 days), but I've spent 2 nights with this player and I think it's the best player ever. I' ve uninstalled all previous software (christv, dscaler, vlc media player, gom player e.t.c.) because KMP do the same and much better.
Starting a new thread about TV is (I think ) good idea because many of us have TV cards and can use KMP for watching TV and recording. Most of the issues about TV will be hardware related (different TV hardware), but, problems very often has same roots. So please support this thread with your comments.
My config:
Intel e4500, 2gb ram, asus 9600 gt, hauppage pvr 500 (dual tuner TV card)
My problem:
How to use hardware encoders (pvr 500 has two) for recording TV.

Hello,
I, too, think a TV (and Radio) Thread is a good idea. Since I do not have a TV card (yet), I receive only Internet TV and radio and cannot help you with your problem, but I have some suggestions for KMP:
1. One could add a "Timer" option to the Capture features, as video- and DVD recorders have. That means you can enter the start time and the end time of a record and the name of the website (Internet TV/radio) or of the TV station (TV card) from which you want to record, and KMP does the record automatically.
2. For more comfort, the skin could have a "Record" button to start and stop manual records. But one must distinguish between video- and audio records, so the button would have to be divided.(In other words: a [or half a] button for the options "Quick Capture Video" and "Quick Capture Audio.")
I hope you will find these ideas useful and add them soon.
Many greetings, :)

I'm not sure that someone from KMP team is reading posts these day, but sheduled recording is great idea.
Is there anybody developing KMP yet?
Is there anybody developing KMP yet?
There is a new beta released a few days ago.
As far as I know, there is (again) only one KMP developer. So, please, stop your whining. I know all of you want to have features added and bugs fixed, but that is not that easy (= 1 developer). Thank you for understanding.

I've been using KMP for several months now (though I'm new to this forum). My setup is:
My PC:
Intel 2.8 Gig CPU, 512 Meg Ram, 0.82 TB HD Space,
ATI PCI Express AIW TV Tuner Card.
My TV:
Intel 3.2 Gig Cpu, 512 Meg Ram, 480 GB HD Space,
ATI 9000 AIW TV Tuner Card, 23" Monitor,
Panasonic Surround Sound System.
I do my recording with the ATI card but the "File Player" that comes with the card hangs up if you try to move the position pointer during playback of a recorded file. Since I found KMP I only use it for playback because it absolutely works perfectly and I can change the (time) position of the file being watched as many times as I desire and KMP just keeps on playing perfectly without ever hanging up.
I told my wife this morning it's a shame software I bought and paid for can't hold a light to a freeware program like KMP. Count me as a major KMP fan!

HI.
Can you record TV with KMP?
Is it any hardware decoders/encoders on your ATI TV card?
Because I have Hauppage 500 pvr and can't record.
I have hauppage pvr 500. Works fine with KMP. But recording is disabled in capture menu.
Anybody help?

I've done recording with kmp. Sometimes to get the capture button to be activated you have to start up the video/tv first.

As for alt+c capture, there is a guide in faq forum. I'm not sure alt+c capture can be used in WDM mode though.
For WDM capture directly from TV-CARD, you should enable "capture pin" in Ctrl+M dialog. See the description there. To enable capture pin, there should be a suitable support from wdm driver of your tv-card.
As for DVD, it must be opened by Ctrl+D. If not working, you need to configure for dvd playback in preferences or software like anydvd for region-free and decss.
