Hello! I have a little problem and I would be grateful if someone could help me. When I try to play a DVD with kmp, it enters the DVD mode, the window resizes but it stays black. So, it cannot play the DVD. I attach a screenshot. I have tried to play DVDs with the latest stable version and with the latest beta version. The problem is the same! I also tried different DVDs. Nothing changes! Can anybody tell me what can I possibly do? I run on Windows Vista Bussiness SP1 and I have an ATI Mobility Radeon X700 graphics card.

It could be a vista issue but for the description above.

Thanks! I have configured for DVD playback in preferences, but the problem remains... :-( any other ideas?
Do you have admin rights for KMP?
Did you try changing the renderer, decoder for DVD? (Be sure that the overlay mixer is not the default)
Do the DVDs have any protection?
Do you have up-to-date video drivers?

I have admin rights for kmp, I tried everything changing the renderer and the docoder for dvd and my drivers are up to date. Concerning the DVDs I don't know if they have protection, so I tried multiple DVDs. I realized that the DVDs with mp2 audio and LPCM audio play well! The DVDs with AC3 audio have the stated problem! I have read the thread about the AC3 audio problem and configuration, so I followed the steps. I don't have any other AC3 filters and I also configured the ac3 filter. It still doesn't work! The problem remains! :-(

I had already changed the decoder for ac3 stream like it is shown in the screenshot. Nothing had happened...
AnyDVD is for copy protection, right? Well, I will give it a try and let's see what will happen. I'll keep you informed. Thanks!

Hello again!
I finally found some time to try the AnyDVD. It seems that copy protection was the problem cause with AnyDVD my DVDs are playing! Thank you very much!

Another reason to damn copy protection. I really hate it.

Me too. No wonder people download DVDs when they can't even play their purchased DVDs (which by the way are infested with commercials) on their pcs. No doubt in my mind that copyright protection makes the piracy problem worse.
