View Full Version : Request: Smaller steps within volume control

Currently the volume is changeable in 5 percent steps. My suggestion is to give the user the ability to decide how small or big these steps are. Bigger than 5 percent make no sense to me. But 2 percent steps would be helpful to me.
I guess there could be a problem with 3 percent and 4 percent steps, because you cant divide 100 with 3 or 4 very well. 1 or 2 percent should work without any problem.
I wanted this long time ago. The previous developer said no. We will see if the new one implements this feature.

I just hope so. It's useful. KMP has features like "invert colors" and this is not really necessary, but can look nice.
How does the developer say no or yes to a feature? It won't be posted here, or? Something like "Yes, this feature will come."
Who knows :)
Just watch for new betas and their changelog.

Yes I hate math :D.
This is not what I wanted to say. 1% 100 steps. 2% 50 steps. 5% 20 steps. 4% 25 steps. 25 is odd. I don't know if this works well. Just ignore it.
Just a customize function for the volume control... that's what I ask for.

custom control sounds good, options in multiples of 100. (50, 25, 20, 10, 5, 4, 2, 1)
i enjoy 5 because it like nice clean numbers too :)

I agree with the original poster. Personally I could not really care less about the number is; I just want the steps to be small enough to give me enough control. I always listen with headphones, and 5% steps are way too much. From previous experience, 1% or 2% would be appropriate for my setup. I guess I'll have to resort to using NirSoft Volumouse ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).

i'd like to put in my request for this feature as well.
KMPlayer is extremely customizable, but most users don't touch most of the options.
i think that volume step control, however, is a feature that is useful and necessary.

How about the best solution?
Leave the 5% as it is, BUT while holding some modifier key, such as Alt or Shift, the volume moves at 1% instead of 5%. Now with 5% and 1% both accessible easily, without any stupid configurations, we can have any integral % for volume in KMP!

In case you haven't realized this by now, I *borrowed* this idea from microscope's "Coarse and fine adjustment focusing unit" thingy.

Oops I just realized that Ctrl, Shift & Alt are all taken. But seems like the Alt + Scroll "Vertical Position of Subtitles" doesn't do most people much good so I think maybe it could be replaced?

It is planed to include this feature in The KMPlayer someday!
It's possible to edit the keys in most cases... if it will be possible with volume control is not sure yet. Anyway custom steps will be included someday. Thanks for your opinion and your suggestion.
