It can stay free if it could only be downloaded from Pandora (there are variations of this theme) but most likely it will become a shareware.

Google translate it. It simply discusses similarities between KMP and the other player hinting on KYH being the new developer.

Yeah, there are always ends of everything. However, it would be better than to stop developing this quiet excellet player.
If you remember Z once wrote that KMP has reached maturity as a video player. Going any further would bloat it.
Logical step would be to develop the audio part. And make KMP totally universal and bloated a bit but how many megs is the freakin' WMP11?

You are right. The current version of KMP is quiet enough for all my needs as a video player. But it still requires a small patch with some situations: KMP breaks the aspect ratio with the combination, KMP mkv splitter and the recent CoreAVC decoder (Using haali's splitter could be the solution but I prefer KMP mkv parser). EVR support is not stabilized yet. ASS parser of KMP does not handle the comment of ass subtitle correctly (already reported in forum). etc... I just want the takeover to maintain the quality of KMP. Actually, I don't really care about KMP being a commercial product or not as long as it keeps the quality till now.

It's PandoraTV's reputation that concerns me and many other people.

I don't really care about putting ads, as long as it keeps quality. However, quality is expected to degrade.
In fact recept beta release is full of bugs. It appears the developer took over the KMP didn't really know what he was doing.

DOH ...

I just found KM Player after ZOOM Player and BS Player both crapped out on my Vista 64 system.

After tinkering a few minutes, I quickly decided it would be my new main app for video.

Figures ....

Yes, what full of bugs? You should make it more clear if there is no intention to ruin the reputation of KMP. There was no such big difference in the recent release compared to the last official version in my own test and investigation.

The bug I had was the KMP crashing on close under Windows Vista.

Other people also reported some problems with codecs and filters.

I'm testing latest beta right now, but I don't see any other bugs other than crashing issue on close.

I don't really use much filters so I didn't find any problem with filters.

Other people were saying some features that used to work stopped working, I didn't see those problems myself, I just took their word for it.

It is quiet possible current beta is not so bad as others were saying because they were really angry about the fact the KMP was sold to PandoraTV. PandoraTV has very bad reputation among Koreans.

It is also very likely problems some appeard because the new developer is yet to fully understand the code.

If you are having no problem with current beta and happy with it, good.
There is no need to downgrade if you don't have problem.

KYH finally posted explanation.
